Hello to all :wave2:, first post although I have been *lurking* for some time. We are off next week Mon-Fri via Ashford. We have been to DLP a few times before but traveling this time with our 20 month old so although we will be keeping to her usual 7pm UK bedtime we will effectively be room bound from 8pm local time. From what I remember the room entertainment wasn't that great, the international channels were mainly news based and the disney channel wasn't the digital version we are used to. Has this changed? any pay per view movies? Is there a headphone input?

We have a portable DVD player which is a little small for watching too long, is there anyway of inputing to the room TV? Some hotels I have stayed in have an external input or a second scart, anyone tried?

If not we might have to buy another couple of books as we are there for 4 nights, I am sure we will soon be tired enough to sleep early ourselves.

Hi Constant and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, posting guidelines can be found here and details regarding help on signatures here

I remember well our earlier visits with early nights. This was before ownership of portable dvd so can't help. We got a couple of good books and I went to Esso garage (beside Santa Fe) and got wine/nibble supplies :goodvibes

Good news :thumbsup2

Our portable DVD player plugged into our TV in the SL. We all usually watched a DVD before bed and Jess (DD sometimes watchd one in the morning whilst we got ready and packed up for the day.

Thank you Angela that is really good to know. I have a personal media player which has some of our DVDs on and my DD's baby Einstiens which may come in handy at 6am :goodvibes .

Can I ask where you connected it to and what cables you needed? Also is the DVD a standard UK type, my device can only do UK PAL and US NTSC and I have been told the French use SECAM.

Thanks again
Steve

TVs currently sold in SECAM countries support both SECAM and PAL, and more recently baseband NTSC as well. Newer tvs will also correct for NTSC input to a fair extent. IME, 99% of tvs in hotel rooms will have either a second scart socket, or a set of phono sockets (usually red, white and yellow). Older tvs I have seen only have an aerial socket.

Now, heres a tip.

If you go to any video game shop they will have an adaptor that looks like a scart plug that has phono plugs on the back. They are designed to plug PS2's into the tv. Your portable dvd player should have come with a phono lead so you can use those or the scart. Mine cost £4, and came with a set of phono leads as well.

Oh, and the tv in our room at the Cheyenne had phono sockets.

Thanks Torchy

Maybe we can see if this can be added to the hotel FAQs as I am sure a lot of people have access to portable DVD players or laptops these days and don't realise you can show them through the TV.

Checked with Hubbie -(I'm not a Techie at all :rotfl2: )Our DVD is PAL . We plugged phono leads into scart connector and scart adaptor into TV.

Hope this helps :happytv:

Just got back from SL last night.

The TV shows a DLRP promotional video in various languages, the Disney Channel, BBC Worldservice and various other foreign channels.

It also plays Disney radio in various languages which I think plays bedtime stories etc.
