on arrival day (non park)
we want to take a leisurely ride on the skyliner (staying at AoA) then head to Disney Springs via bus (unless there's another free option) for a reservation at TREX at which point should we get off the Skyliner for the shortest bus ride to DS?

Not sure it really matters, they are all fairly close together and you could be waiting between 5-15 minutes for a bus at any of them, maybe Riviera is the closest to DS. I don't know enough about Caribbean Beach to know how far the skyliner is from the bus stop, you'll have to walk a bit at any of the stops to get to the bus area.

I agree, the actual length of bus ride is roughly the same from any Skyliner resort. Riviera would maybe have the shortest walk from Skyliner station to bus stop (might be the same distance at AoA!), and the bus doesn’t share with any other resort. So you could ride AoA to CBR, transfer to the Epcot line, ride all the way to Epcot, then get off and get right back on and ride to RIV then disembark to walk through RIV and catch the bus for DS. That would be a nice Skyliner ride!

I'd go back to AoA/Pop, maybe CB because they run the most buses, because the resorts are massive. You could be waiting a while at BW/RIV.

The buses to DS from the parks don't run until the afternoon, maybe late afternoon. They do run, but who knows how often. The bus stop in the HS parking lot is right next to the Skyliner, so that's an option. You'd get to see the lake at HS, which would be nice. The buses at Epcot would be all the way across Epcot and you couldn't get to them without a ticket.

EDIT: No buses to DS at all from parks anymore. Wow! My bad.

As mentioned, no clear cut best solution here. But if the Skyliner is something you want to do, we'd ride Skyliner from AoA to the CB hub, then switch to the EPCOT Skyliner, getting off at the International Gateway. Then take the walkway to Beach Club, walk through the lobby to the bus stop out front and catch the bus to DS. You'll get to see 2 segments of the Skyliner that way, and it's a pretty simple walk to/through Beach Club for the DS bus. Since it's not a very efficient way to get to TRex, just make sure you allow plenty of time for travel! One other less mentioned option could be to take the Skyliner to HS, get on the Old Key West bus back to the resort, get off at the main Hospitality House bus stop, and walk to the marina where you can take a boat to DS.

that's good to know about the buses not running til later, our TREX res. is at 3pm maybe after Skyliner we will just splurge on a Minnie Van instead

You can get a Lyft from any of the hotels or HS. It will be harder from International Gateway because you'd have to walk all the way through Beach Club.

That could be fun, too! At one time, I think the park-DS buses started running around 4PM to get people out there for dinner time.

All depends on how much time you have from leaving resort to your reservation time.

Check MDE app for transportation when you're there. AFAIK, the park to DS buses haven't returned since the pandemic shutdown. If I missed the news that they have returned, I'll be glad to hear it!

our flight lands at 915. if all goes on time I'm hoping we will be at AoA by at least 1030 or 11? I don't know how insane it will be or how smoothly Sunshine Flyer runs, I'm hoping it won't take that long

The buses from the parks to DS have not been operating since March 2020.

To further clarify: while there are no buses from the parks to DS the buses from the resort to DS run all day so most of the prior options for a Skyliner / bus combo to DS will work.

thank you, I was getting a bit worried. my plan was to take the bus from a Skyliner resort to DS once we get off the Skyliner, not sure where people got the idea I was asking park to DS options, so thank you for clarifying 💕
