Skyliner Down

We were on the Skyliner yesterday and it kept stopping not just slowing down. It stopped when we were at the station at Riviera and they closed our vents because the gondolas were touching and that’s why they stopped. We got off and walked to the CBR station and got back on there to get to Pop.

Dumb question: are the buses to Epcot and HS only running when the skyliner is down or do they run them regardless?
As PP said only if Skyliner is down. The kicker is it takes them like an hour to get them running if the Skyliner goes down. And considering that I doubt they have a plan for running buses when the Skyliner is kinda sorta functioning like current reports seem to be.

Those there now that are dissatisfied with the Skyliner need to be complaining to their hotels and sending in a note to Disney’s general customer feedback email. Skyliner resort guests pay such a premium that day after day of subpar service is simply not ok. They should have buses running in tandem with the Skyliner by now given these reports.

Is it still down? If so, I can't believe this hasn't blown up all over the internet.

We rode today from Epcot to studios and then back and no issues. But of course that is just a couple of short rides.
Good to hear. 2 weeks ago, that same trip took us 40 minutes from EP to HS. But we've also experience delays with buses, monorails, and boats over the years - it's hard to say sometimes why transportation is slow sometimes!

Any more reports of how the skyliner is running from Pop to both Epcot and Studios? I am going in 2 days with an anxious person for heights and I dont want to subject them to a starting and stopping or painfully slow skyliner. Should I be ready to call an Uber to get us to HS or Epcot in a normal time frame?

Not really a fan of the sky liner, I keep getting unlucky on break downs and slow journeys

If park hopping from/to HS or EP I much prefer to walk or boat

As of yesterday the Skyliner to and from Epcot seemed to be working better.
From what I can remember immediately after last years maintenance it was also slow/stopping/starting, but during this years vacation it has definitely been worse. I love the CBR and choose it not for the Skyliner, when it works it’s great but when it doesn’t it can really mess up your day!

Serious bummer, it’s so nice usually, this is very unusual. I actually don’t recall days after days of complaints about the Skyliner when weather wasn’t involved before.
7 week long stays and only issue was on a rainy day, else 100%. This still will not prevent me from staying here, hopefully it scares other people away. LOL. We were stuck on the monorail for 4 hours and if a boat breaks down it takes a LOOOONG time to get another boat out there and move the passengers, so the bus really is the only one that can quickly recover from being down.

ADDED: Maybe they are trying to do the maintenance on the down low. LOL

ANY chance Mickey will someday open a Guest Walkway from Pop Century to Caribbean Beach and a Guest Walkway from Caribbean Beach to Hollywood Studios?

That would be golden when Skyliner is down and a great overall asset for the Skyliner Resorts.

You’ll see Pua sailing over the skies between those resorts before that will ever happen tbh.

The only reason I would hold out hope is the opening of the Grand Floridian/Magic Kingdom Walkway that was always thought to be a tremendous long shot.

I agree, for a couple of reasons.

One, they would have to either build a bridge over or a walkway under where the Skyliner currently crosses Victory Way heading toward the Studios. It would be too dangerous for pedestrians to cross at road level because the curves in the road limit visibility.

Two, the easiest route would be to follow the Skyliner path. However, they may not want people walking under the Skyliner in the event of an evacuation due to bringing in the necessary equipment.

When it comes to Disney, you can never say never. I would have never imagined the walkway from the Poly to MK would be built. But considering the areas guests would have to walk through and the need to have ground accessibility to evacuate the Skyliner, I certainly wouldn’t expect that to be on their radar anytime soon.
