Looking for a good place for my boyfriend to go skydiving in April. This will be his first jump. Any and all info you have will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Try these people it is a little drive outside of Orlando so you wil need a car

Lake Wales
Skydiving
PHOENIX WORLD SKYDIVING CENTER
440 Airport Rd., Lake Wales, Florida 33853; 941/678-1003; fax: 941/678-1409.

These are USPA dropzones in Florida, "near" Orlando. You can get the direct links to their websites from http://www.uspa.org/dz/states/FL.htm

Florida Skydiving Center, 50 miles southwest of Orlando
Freefall Adventures, Florida, 70 miles southeast of Orlando
Skydive DeLand, Inc., 45 miles north of Orlando
Skydive Sebastian, 70 miles southeast of Orlando
Skydive Space Center, 35 miles east of Orlando
Skydive Umatilla, 32 miles northwest of Orlando

Have YOU jumped before? You said it would be your BF's FIRST jump, but how about you? That is how I met my DH - he was my first jumpmaster. We don't jump anymore, but he has 2000+ jumps and I have 1000+ jumps, and we both were jumpmasters. I was also an instructor and the local Safety & Training Advisor. So, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks! I am NOT jumping. I'll be watching. I have a major fear of heights - that is why I'm so short.

Have you personally been to any of these places? Any you would recommend?

Again, thanks!

Deland, 45 minutes to an hour east of WDW, is apparently famous in skydiving circles. You see people skydiving every weekend out that way, tho I was always to chicken to do it myself.

There's also a place up near Winter Park that does indoor skydiving. Might be good for a first timer.

chell - I have not jumped at any of the FL dropzones. I am pretty sure DH jumped at DeLand, but that would have been 17+ years ago (I've known him that long, so I know he hasn't been there since 1990). I think from the list I gave you, I would choose either DeLand or Space Center. Both have several fast planes and both offer Tandem and AFF training. Your DBF would do well at either. DeLand is VERY big and I've heard lots about it over the years. I have heard of both, though. So, I think either of those 2 would be great.

BTW - don't let a little fear of heights get in YOUR way - nothing like jumping out of a perfectly good airplane to get you over it :lmao:

Thanks for the info.

Believe me, I would be dead before I hit the ground. My heart would just flat out stop!!!
