the search is not working, so I'm sorry if this is a old, answered many times question.
When I go into sky auctions.com and I see bids for $3.00 on a per night stay at a hotel and then you scroll down it says
Taxes/Service Charges: $32 additional per room per night

does this mean that my bid price example $3.00 is then added to the $32.00.

It would not be a deal if you bidding on a 2*, that you could get regularly for $27.00.
How do some of you get $15.00 a night places with that extra charge?
They don't answer this in the FAQ sections at skyauctions.
Any experts here to advise me?

if it says that ......per night per room....then yes it would be added to your bid price "per night per room"

they also tack on a $15 charge to get your documents to you sometimes which they then send to you via "eMail" and which most of the time is in such a attachment format that you cannot read it with "regular" programs ( we usuallly have to call back and have them FedEx our documents )

I have never really seen any great deals on the nightly rentals on skyauction. They do add on $32 to your bid, and some of them get a bit high. Then $15 is added to your total.
The best deals are the 'ready, set, go' auctions. You can get those for around $50, plus a $195 add on, plus $15 for a week.
If you only need a few days, then skyauction may not be worth it for you.
Maybe Priceline. I just don't like priceline because I want to make sure I get a fridge and micro in my room. On Skyauction, you at least can see what you are bidding on.

I just got back from a timeshare in Williamsburg VA I got through skyauction. My bid ended up being $31. With the taxes/fees it came to $241. That was for a whole week, 2 bedroom/2 bath condo with a private hot tub on a beautiful resort. What a great deal. I will be doing skyauction again.

what was the resort Bonnie

we used skyauction for resort in williamsburg too and were at the Powhatan but had the Upstairs unit and did not have the "hot tub" option

did they invite you to an "update" session??

We were at Powhaton Plantation, probably the same one you were at. I think there are hot tubs in all the 1st floor units and some of the 2nd floor units. I requested a 1st floor (not sure if my request was honored or I just got lucky) because the friend I was going with was still recovering from knee surgery.

Not sure what an "update" session is, guess I didn't get invited. They did call and ask how our stay was going. Since we were both married women traveling without our spouses they didn't try to sell us anything.

A few years ago I bid on a week in Nassau Bahamas at the Marriott. Bid $51 plus the $195 tax fee.

It was great! Aside from Atlantis, the Marriott is the only other hotel with a casino.

The pool was nice, and right on the beach. We went scuba diving almost everyday, and also visited Atlantis 3 times!

Great price! I would never pay full price to go there again.

I stayed in a 2 bedroom in Hilton Head this year for a $20 bid. Total was $215. I met a woman by the pool who was renting the same size unit for for $1000. Woohoo! I LOVE Skyauction.

it was a nice location ...well maintained, we did not ask for anything in particular were just assigned...the week we were there....a lot of the units in our area were not occupied....

they used to be exclusively with RCI but since they took the Gold Crown designation away they have switched to II

we did get the update tour since they thought we were an RCI exchange ( we actually do belong to RCI ) ....for our trouble and them trying to get us to "convert" our weeks to points through sunterra they gave us a 50$ dining certificate

with the availability of "exchanges" on skyauction ....would not pay to invest in another timeshare

Thanks everyone, these prices have made it not so scary to use them. So I guess if I see a 5* then it's worth it on a per night with the 32.00 extra (+15.00) next time I need a week that's what I'll do (skyauction for resorts)
What about car rentals? or cruises?
