has anyone ever used the 'bid per room, per night'? I'm looking for hotels, etc, and saw this feature- is it legit? can I bid for multiple nights at once?
We have used and and would not recommend it. We used it for 1 night and after all the fees and stuff the room was more expensive than we would have paid outright. Add that to the fact that the hotel couldn't find our reservation and we could get no customer service from Skyauction on he weekend. We went ahead and paid for the room after about 3 hours of trying to get the reservation. Once we returned home it took Skyauction about 5 months to do their research until they finally credited us with the price of the room.
I would highly recommend the week rentals, but not the night rental

I've used it a couple of times and it can work well. You basically bid for the price you are willing to pay for one night and then after you win you tell them how many nights you want at that price.
I think it depends on what you are bidding on. I've gotten some really great deals on some really high end properties. For instance, I just recently took my family to the new JW Marriott in San Antonio for a week and I paid less than half the rate I could get anywhere else (~$140 per night instead of $279 per night) and that included taxes (which the normal rates do not). Obviously, if you are bidding for a property that is normally $80 a night, you aren't going to save that much money.
