This is my first look at Skyauction - if you have used it, please tell me how you did :) I see a 2 bdr one week stay on there ---- listed at $1 plus the $295 fee. This is for Celebration World Resort. Has anyone stayed there ? How is it? Do they really give it to you for $296 for a week ??? Do you have to do the timeshare presentation? The ad doesn't mention it, does that mean that you don't have to do it - or that they just aren't telling you? Please help me to know how this works!!! Thanks.

yes, you really get it at that price. Unless someone else start bidding against you.

and no you don't have to do the timeshare pitch. CWR does offer money for it.

CWR use to get some bad reviews. they changed management completely. Now the rooms are nice and clean.

It is PET friendly - but only in certain building. So don't stay here if anyone has a problem with pets.

I also find Skyauction confusing. I've tried to look for accommodations in places other than Orlando, but end up giving up. Fortunately, Spiceycat is very good about answering Orlando related, Skyauction questions. :)

I think the Home and Away auctions are a better deal. You get a certificate to us in any condo with availability (check at getawayweeks.com) and a $100 certificate off your next win. I usually win at around a $50 bid+$195 fee+$20 processing charge. My first week was $265 but my future wins are only $165 a week after applying the coupon won in the last auction. They used to be cheaper - around $125 a week - before they raised their fee to $195.

You can't beat a nice condo for under $24 a night.

I just won my 28th condo auction and have been happy with every win.

Check out Tripadvisor.com for reviews on the condos available. Some are much better than others. I never book Celebration World since they are pet friendly and I am very allergic to both cats and dogs. I'm afraid they may have people with pets stay in the units that aren't supposed to have them (only some are supposed to be pet friendly).

I stay at Silver Lake most often because it is
1. always available
2. a very short, easy drive to the parks with no view of the "real world" when using the back entrance on Sherbeth Rd.

Most importantly, they at least have some form of security at the entrances unlike most other off-site resorts.

My favorite is Cypress Pointe. I like the decorating and can watch TV from the jacuzzi! I love the three bedroom units there or the two bedroom units at CPGV.

When I want space and a great view, I stay in the three bedroom/three bath units at Grand Beach overlooking Lake Bryan. I love lounging in the hammocks lakeside.

I used to love the A units at Vacation Village at Parkway. I miss them and wish they will be offered again.

Places I would not return to:

We had a nice waterfront room at Bryan's Spanish Cove. On windy nights, we left the slider open and listened to the water washing up on the shore. There was a problem with roaches when we were there.

Kingstown Reef is convenient to the convention center and Seaworld, though the unit was a bit small with no jacuzzi tub.

Fairfield Cypress Palms is a too far away. There is no interior deadbolt so maintenance entered the room when I was in the tub.

Thanks to Skyauction, I consider Disneyworld my "vacation home".

Thanks a bunch for the great info!!!! How long would you say it takes to get to the parks from Silver Lake? Thanks :)

Does anyone know why there isn't anything offered for the Vistana for 2008 yet? Last year in July is when I won my bid for this past April. But this summer I don't see hardly anything for 2008 yet. Anyone know the scoop?

lack of the better inventory on skyauction may be due to the change in the way RCI alots it now

plus, resorts are not happy when they try to sell what they offer and people can say "why should we buy this for $$$$$ when we can get the same thing on skyauction for $".....it might seem the good deals on better resorts have come back to the attention of the developers who then can pressure RCI to change their "business model"

It takes about 4 minutes to get to the toll booth at Animal Kingdom from the back exit of Silver Lake Resort. The resort is very close to the Lodge.

MGM is about 10 minutes, Epcot 12 and MK about 15 via Osceola Parkway and World Center Drive.

By the way, don't speed on Osceola Parkway. It is heavily patrolled.

If you have Google Earth, it will provide a great perspective on just how close Silver Lake is to the World.
