If you bid on a Ready, Set, Go auction and win, you can wait as long as you want before picking the week you want to take. That was always true, but especially true now under a new policy they instituted with the terrorism fears and travel slowdown.
That means the best way to get a week (once you've committed to doing it) is to watch the RSG auctions and keep bidding until you get one at a good price. The fees are always $195, so the minimum you'll pay is $196. Anything under $250 is a good price, but you can sometimes get them for even less. You pay as soon as you win.
When you've won the auction, just keep checking the Findweeks system until something you want comes up; when it does, reserve it and put in the auction number from your winning bid. Skyauction told me that the best time to check is very early in the morning on Mondays, but I've seen things change around midweek.
On the other hand, if you find a week for a resort that you definitely want (and a two-bedroom at Orange Lake is something you definitely want!) you can reserve it even before you win an RSG auction. The only problem is that you have to peg the reservation to a specific auction, and the one auction you're bidding on could get bid to a high price. Doing it the other way is better.
Sorry for the length, I'm pretty passionate about the great deals on resort weeks from Skyauction.
P.S. V.V. at Parkway is an OK place to stay, but it's more like a hotel with large rooms. Orange Lake is more like a true resort.
