I've just found out about this since visitng here. If you bid on and win the Ready, Set Go auctions for a condo in Orlando, do you have to go to the timeshare presentation? I wasn't sure since usually to qualify for a timeshare you have to be married and/or make a minimum amt of money. Nothing is specified in the auction about that (marital atatus or income), so it was unclear to me if I would be required to attend a presentation or not.

No, you don't have to go to a presentation. These are generally resales of timeshare weeks. It looks to the resort like you came in on a timeshare exchange. Some may try to get you to come to the meeting, but you are not obligated to. OUr trick is that we just don't answer the phone.

Cool; thanks!

Right now, for the week in Oct I'm going, they only have a couple of places open. I'm hoping that more resorts will show up between now and then :).

One is Westgate, which I've heard to avoid if possible.

October is slow season so just wait until a different unit shows up for you. You should be able to get a 2 bedroom at Orange Lake which I would not pass up if it showed. YOu need to check every day (prefereably morning) since their availability changes frequently.

Any other questions, let me know.

We've used skyauction for 7 units so far so I know my way around and trust it completely.

I'll take you up on your offer Hawt1!

1) What's the difference between the Ready Set Go auctions, and just bidding on a 7 night stay at an Orlando resort of your choice? I saw one listed as "7 nights in a 1 BR Orlando resort of your choice" that has dates in October. Right now the Ready set Go ones are only through 9/1/03.

2) Have you stayed anywhere besides Orange Lake? Right now for October on the Ready Set Go, it is showing as available Orbit One, Parkway Plaza in Kissimmee, and Westgate Vacation Villas . On the 7 night auction, it was showing several other places available, too. Maybe those other places don't participate in the Ready Set Go???

3) Last one! :D I actaully will only be staying 6 nights (Sat 10/4 - Fri 10/10). Can you check out early?

The difference is about $150!!!

I would just wait for RSG auction to have your dates and more choice. Don't worry about the Sept 1 date. We have just booked 3 units beyond that date using auctions that had that restriction.

Skip Westgate. V.V. at Parkway is very new and nice and may work for you but...I guess I would need to know more about your traveling party to make a recommendation. Oribt One is also of lesser quality thatn ones that you should eventually find.

For RSG auction, just be patient and put a unit on hold once you find what you want. And you should be able to get one for about $50...plus extra fees...although as more people find skyauction, I expect the price to head up a bit.

Check out early is fine...

More questions, let me know. Not a problem.

It's just me any my sister going.

Can you put a unit on hold even if you haven't bid on it yet? Or do you ahve to wait until a RSG comes open w/ the dates you need?

I would still hold out for a 2 bedroom...you should be able to get one. No need sleeping on a pull out sofa.

You can put a hold on any unit that you see but there would be no need to put a hold on one that does not correspond with the dates you want.

Once you put a hold on a unit, then you can bid on it.

Or, you can just trust that a unit will come open later and win a RSG and have it in reserve until a unit comes up in the inventory.

The other thing you can do is call skyauction and ask what the odds are of a unit coming open for what and when you want. It is rare but they have found me a unit that was not in their online inventory before...

Good luck.

Hawt1, could you elaborate a little more about this property? I have seen it come up on www.afvc.com for our dates. we are a family of 5 (3 kids--14, 8, and 2) and the pics look very nice. Where is this resort? Any details would be really helpful :)

If you bid on a Ready, Set, Go auction and win, you can wait as long as you want before picking the week you want to take. That was always true, but especially true now under a new policy they instituted with the terrorism fears and travel slowdown.

That means the best way to get a week (once you've committed to doing it) is to watch the RSG auctions and keep bidding until you get one at a good price. The fees are always $195, so the minimum you'll pay is $196. Anything under $250 is a good price, but you can sometimes get them for even less. You pay as soon as you win.

When you've won the auction, just keep checking the Findweeks system until something you want comes up; when it does, reserve it and put in the auction number from your winning bid. Skyauction told me that the best time to check is very early in the morning on Mondays, but I've seen things change around midweek.

On the other hand, if you find a week for a resort that you definitely want (and a two-bedroom at Orange Lake is something you definitely want!) you can reserve it even before you win an RSG auction. The only problem is that you have to peg the reservation to a specific auction, and the one auction you're bidding on could get bid to a high price. Doing it the other way is better.

Sorry for the length, I'm pretty passionate about the great deals on resort weeks from Skyauction.

P.S. V.V. at Parkway is an OK place to stay, but it's more like a hotel with large rooms. Orange Lake is more like a true resort.

Can someone tell me where the ready set go Auctions for 250.00 dollars is on skyauction.com. The only Ready set Go Auctions I see is for resorts for 499.00 dollars.

I need step my step insurctions because I am is most defenatiely is doing something wrong.

I am main page and is not get anywhere. 499.000 for a resort for a week is not a bargin price to me.

Go into USA and Canada auctions, then click Canada auctions for example.

Scroll down until you see a RSG auction and realize that your cost will be your bid plus $195 plus $15 for admin.

I chose Canada because it is simple to find them in thsi category and it is the same RSG as you find in all the other categories.

The easiest way to find them is to hit the Search link at the top of the home page, and in the keyword line type "Ready" and all of the current auctions will pop up, regardless of category. No matter which category they are listed under, they are all the same and completely interchangable.

Remember, there is a $195 charge for winning, so if you want to get the week for $250 you cannot bid more than $55. I put in a maximum bid of $50, and if I don't win I search "Ready" again, find the next one ending soonest, and try again until I do win.

ETA: forgot to mention the $15 admin fee, sorry.

Could you tell me at what point after winning an RSG auction you contact the resort to make any requests, such as for a non-smoking unit or desired building/section? We have already won an RSG auction (our first!) and will be at Orange Lake in a few months.

Thanks for any info! :D

It's different at each resort, but in general the resorts will want to give priority to the people who are owners instead of people who are there for just a week.

I would call Orange Lake and ask them; they may note your request just because you called. It could also depend on the time of year. When we went to OLCC last September (very slow season), we made our room request right at the front desk, and they gave us everything we wanted. I loved OLCC!

Thanks for all your help. Now I go bid on my stay for this summer for the week. Stay in Orlando for the whole for under 300.00 dollars is a bargin.

I have one more question does come maid service with your on the resort and is there any extra fees once I get to the resort I will have to pay.

Thanks, alvernon90! I guess it doesn't hurt to call and have them note the requests. Glad to hear you enjoyed OLCC--I've read mostly good reviews about this place so we're really looking forward to our stay! :D
