it isn't that long.

just take the shortcut to Disney get on I4 on Osceola Parkway (there is hardly ever traffic here - of course now there will be).

or take the shortcut to Turkey Lane (although Cypress Pointe would have been a better one for this way)

It is actually nearly 15 miles.. I did the milage check thru mapquest.. if all else fails, and nothing comes up, I will have no choice but to do this and go thru Disney and up Palm Parkyway/TurkeyLake.. and so far.. today there was only Celebration World and Club Sevila ... and I would much rather stay at Celebration World than the other place. That one looks like a dive...
I will look again tomorrow...

These directions are actually to Turkey Lake and Hollywood.. that is the back entrance to Universal over by where Dr Phillps High School is at... I didn't know the exact address for Universal to get the "directions" for the milage so I had to do it this way. I do know how to get there, but wanted to get the milage.. and this was the only way to do it... :rotfl:

this is what mapquest has for thier directions.. now if I went the other way, I would go thru Disney's road's take it thru DTD and come out on 535, make a left then a right onto Palm Parkway and stay on that until I get to Universal.. that would be less traffic in the long run but more milage ..either way, I am doomed.. Maybe this is a sign I should get an annual instead of a seasonal for Disney :rotfl: I was really hoping that something would open up off Palm Parkway... like Cypress or Blue Tree... even WestGate over by the hospital would have been great. I guess I would be happy now if Celebraty even opened up on Palm Parkway with their $3.99 per day resort fee.. (can't figure out what they charge it for :confused3 ) That would still be cheaper than the gas back and forth from the other places...:upsidedow

It is 6:35am on Wed and the only thing they have for June 7th is Silver Lake-Silver Points Hotel Room for 2! :scared1: I leave for Disney on Friday for the weekend. I didn't plan on taking my laptop to check, but guess I am going to have to do checking while away as well.

I need to correct myself. Silver Lake isn't coming up on the 7th but the 13th. There is nothing on the 7th, nor the 6th (even if I drove up late on the 6th to check in)

Skyauction is much better for off season low travel times of the year. Early June IS summer season. Some kids in the US are out of school already and thus moving Orlando into another busy place to travel! I wouldnt be to certain anything would open up for your dates at this point, but, it might happen.

Also, my Parents stayed at Celebration World last week, us at Summer Bay. Celebration was a decent resort. I liked Summer Bay better due to amenties, but it is more remote. My parents loved the resort. They did not use any amenties, but merely used it to mainly sleep at night. Location was pretty decent.

We drove to SeaWorld and it took about 20 minutes from thier Condo at Celebration World Resort.

not sure but from CWR to US/IOA going Osceola parkway to I4 - it took around 10 minutes to the drop off place. My nephew did not time the first time - but he did the second time - because the route my brother was taken thru Kissimmee to I4 took a half hour.

either of us when Turkey Lake

if you really need something called them

on the last minute (last call) on RCI they have both Silver Lake in the hotel (so it might have been on getaway) and Vacation Villa at Parkway for june 6

Celebration World is coming up on get-away weeks . com for the 6th of June this morning...I have been watching, hoping you would get SOMETHING good.

I went on Celebration World's website and they do in fact look very nice (especially compared to Celebratey), however, just as I thought, it is far from Universal. "Estimated Time: 21 minutes Estimated Distance: 15.43 miles"
as per mapquest. That is too many miles to travel every day twice a day for me, maybe even 4 times a day if we decided to take a break mid day. Gas is too expensive. I think I will hold out a bit longer to see if anything else comes up that would be a little closer in that direction (if not, then I will go with that one). I didn't want you to think that I was saying that one was not nice though.. thanks for your info...:goodvibes

More came available for your dates today...I hope you see them.

I am up in Orlando now (I say up because it is from where I live). It takes more than 10 minutes from Celebration World to US/IOA Spicey.. it takes that sometimes just to get to I-4 area even taking Oseola Parkway. :confused3

Yes Photobear Sam.. I am seeing more places coming up. I even called a few times yesterday and today to speak to them & they have been pretty nice. One guy I spoke with was funny. When I said to him I was unsure what I wanted to do & I really was looking for something closer to US/IOA he said, "well I am in the business so I cannot tell you to wait but I do not want to tell you not to wait". Then he went on to say that the availibility is starting to change and more is being added than just a few days ago." So I have decided to wait at least until tomorrow. Cypress Palms looks good but again, it is a haul to Universal... I am staying at the Comfort Inn Suites on Turkey Lake now.. right next to West Gate Lakes.. would love to see that come up but fat chance I think ....:rotfl: :rotfl:

by the way.. I do know that it is summer season and schools are getting out, that is why I need to go this time of year. My youngest DD is in 10th going into 11th and I work for the school district. I cannot pull her out at the end of the year nor can I request off..so therefore I need to wait until we are finished. Normally our school year would end before Memorial Day but this year they changed the last day until June 6th.... I knew this when I purchased the certificates.. I also knew that there would be something, just not that much to choose from... if my kids were back in elem school and I did not work for the schools, I would not hesitate to pull out and go prior to schools end.. less crowds... I am not crazy about going this time of year, but it is now or not go... I have no choice...

I sure hope you get something good...For some odd reason, I check everyday hoping to be able to spot something. I am always so happy when people get a good deal.:)

I was wondering, with all the people losing their houses, and the bankruptcy rates climbing, does anyone here think the tourism market in Orlando will take a hit? Will more condos be available since a lot of people can't afford to take a vacation?:confused3

I am not thrilled but my DH & DD are.. we ended up in a 2 bedroom at Oak Plantation. I am not happy because it is going to be a hike to US/IOA but my family are happy since it is a 2 bedroom & it's 1000 sq ft! We went there today to check it out and it looks fairly nice. Has lots of shaded areas. Just very far to commute. As my DH said.. the money we are saving since we only paid $179 can go towards the gas ;) to US/ IOA. My DD is very happy now that we will have the extra room to take one of her friends. This unit can sleep 8. It has 1 king in the master, 2 doubles in the second bedroom & then a pull out queen sofa in the event my 21 yr old DS does tag along. With the 2 double beds, my 19 yr old DD can join us for a few days (on the weekend portion) when she doesn't have college classes. So it works out space wise for us. If anyone has any info on here I would love to hear it..

Like I said, I am not thrilled since it will be a haul to the parks.. but it is the size unit we need.. dates are Sunday to Sunday... Now I have 2 more certificates to use...:thumbsup2 I plan on using one over Winter Break...yeah, I know, another rough time to get a unit... and the other one will either be over the summer or maybe in the fall when we are off of school 2 days in a row. My DH will stay the entire week I will only stay a portion... we have done things like that before... his friends will drive up and meet him and they play golf...

the route I take is turn left into Westgate - and if you are luck and the traffic light at Us 192 is turning green when you arrive - you are then on Sherberth road - and Ocesola Parkway is about a minute (okay 2 minutes) away - right turn at the traffic light - you are there. the I4 exit is not the first one - you need to go pass Pop century/WWoS (the one right in front of Gaylord)

got there in around 10 minutes - now definitely got luck - no stopping for any traffic lights. got on the I4 with no waiting. Got in the left lane again no waiting. when we got off - again only one traffic light before their right turn (the parking turns left - so again slows you down)

but for 2 teenagers who had only gone to US/IOA with my brother (he does not listen when I try to tell him short cuts). they were very impressed....

otherwise won't have remember it.

that is the way I was thinking.. that was luck.. trust me on that one...;) it has taken me more than 10 minutes at times just to get from the Osceola exit to exit 68! and that is only two exits!!! It can get backed up pretty bad over there. That is one of the reasons why I sometimes go thru DTD and up onto Palm Parkway/Turkey Lake and into Universal thru the back way from Hollywood Blvd.
Now with this place we will be staying, Oak Plantation, I will have to be taking 192 heading west, then up 535 to 536 and onto 4 that way (or just take 535 to Palm Parkway/Turkey Lake if the traffic is backed up on 4), it will take even more time than from the other places.. it is much further away. I did check Trip Advisor and there pretty much all good reviews for it. I checked this site and seems there are negatives... but from one person. We went in person to check it out and it looks really nice. I saw a 2 bedroom unit and it looked awesome.. now that doesn't mean that will be the unit I will get...but the unit was really nice. The place it self is on the smaller side compared to Silver Lake, Parkway Vacation Village, WestGate etc... there are no big screen TV's but it is nice..
If you can find anything out.. that would be great..

and if anyone else out there has stayed there... please let me know.. :)

PS... thanks to all for the help..... :thumbsup2 now I have to start looking for something mid summer...:rotfl: I think I will wait until it gets closer .. or until I see something I want and then just book it.. I have no set dates since I am off all summer long...:goodvibes
