I posted this on the Budget Board but then thought perhaps I should post here too.

$199 7-day RCI is back until 6 pm today Tuesday 11/04/08.

Book by 05/30/2009 and Travel by 11/09

I know folks have complained about the lack of inventory compared to the past, but I only found SkyAuction in December, so to me it is a great deal.

Be very careful buying them. They do not have very much availablity past Jan and they are are charging an extra fee for many resorts now. I am stuck with a certificate that I probably will not be able to use.. so if you do not see something you can use it for now, don't purchase thinking something will come up. These certificates aren't the way they use to be :sad2: If there is a unit that you can use & it shows the availiblity, then great, it is worth it.. but just remember to look where it says no charge, and charge for the units....

It is a great deal if you travel off season. I always check availability before I complete my purchase. We can't travel now without staying in a condo/resort, it's so great to be able to stretch out, cook a meal, wash a load of laundry(in fact we hardly have to pack many clothes now) and grownups and kids each have their own space!! I would definitely recommend skyauction, even with less options, it's still a much better deal than anything else!!!:thumbsup2

Hey guys, a couple of days ago I purchased two of Skyauction’s Vacation Blowout Clearance Sale certificates for $199 a piece. I immediately received an email from Skyauction with my certificate number and authorization code. I then went to www.redeemavacation.com and booked two 1-bedroom suites (one for my family and then one for my mom/dad) at Silver Points for this May. This was two days ago. I've have not received any further confirmation from RCI that our reservations were successful. I'm curious if anyone has used one of these certificates recently and if so, did you received a follow up email confirming their booking (and how long did it take). I've used Skyauction several times in the past with the Ready Set Go Auctions, but this is my first time using this method. Thanks in advance.

Hey Mudd, keep us posted, I haven't done it this way either. I would like to use these for our trip in October, but I didn't know how it worked. Good luck to you, I hope you hear something soon!!:goodvibes

TNKBELL,

Just wanted to give you an update. After booking on-line and a week passing by, I still had not received any conformation. So, I called Silver Lake Resort to check if they had received my information. Sure enough, they had all my info. and she supplied me with my confirmation #. So, after using the certificate, you may need to call the resort to confirm. Hope this helps.

sorry didn't see

the certificiate is your reservation confirmation.

it should say - RCI gift certificates - booking confirmation across the top. It comes in email - they don't mail anything to you - just email

Just a word of caution:

This is a great price. A really great price. Even for some of the properties that charge extra, it's still a great price.

However, DO NOT BUY ONE unless you are (a) extraordinarily flexible in when you can go, (b) are fully flexible about the size of unit you can take, AND (c) can travel on very short notice.

If you search, you will find at least a half-dozen folks who bought them with very specific plans of when and where to use them who were unable to do so. Even if you've seen plenty of availability in past years for the time you "have to go", that might not be true next time.

Caveat Emptor.

I just bought one of these on Wednesday.

I immediately got my certificate numbers and booked a 2 bedroom at Silver Lake for August. I got an email from RCI Certificates with an attachment that had my confirmation about 45 minutes after booking.

It says you need it at check-in, here is the phone number that it says to call for any questions.

Please contact a customer service representative at 1-866-280-7823 if you have any questions regarding your Resort Vacation Certificate reservation

I booked the last one I had yesterday for October 24th. Food and wine festival here we come! I think I'll keep checking to see if there is an appropriate add on week. If so, I'll get another for the $199. I was so happy that I didnt have to pay the add on charges. Grammy

Could someone tell me, do you need to go to a timeshare presentation if you use one of these RCI certificates?
Thanks!

I have won about 6 of these and have never attended a timeshare presentation. I also received immediate email confirmation after I booked. I am doing Silver Lake 1 BR April 26-May 3 ...I can't wait!!:cool1:

Thanks Mudd!! I'm glad it worked fine for you!! I'm watching and waiting for some weeks to open up, we need a unit that sleeps 8 this year!!! Those don't seem to be in very ample supply.
