Did I see on here some time ago that some lucky Disers got Sky+ for free, or at a considerably reduced rate?

We've got standard Sky at the moment but as DH works shifts it would be handy to have the Sky+. Also, my Mum always rings in the middle of something vital (not THAT....oh, yes, that as well ) But there's no way DH wants to pay all that when we've just had to buy a new freezer and I'm bending his ear constantly about a return to WDW.

Any top tips? We get the basic digital package (and don't want to pay for more), but as 9-year subscribers I think we should get a discount:rolleyes1

There was an offer going around a few weeks back to reccomend a family mamber to upgrade to sky+ for a smaller than normal fee, but I cant remember what it was. It might be worth giving them a ring and seeing what they can offer you over the phone since you have been subscribers for a long time.:goodvibes

I know they were doing a half price subscription trial a while ago on their top package, and I also know that a lot of cheeky people were getting it extended with Sky by saying that they wished to downgrade on the basis of cost once the trial period was over. One guy I worked with had at least 9 months at half price out of this.

The only downside was that you had to take the risk of losing some of the channels if Sky decided not to persuade you stay :)

Apart from that I haven't seen anything else :(

I have not seen anything lately. You would have to pay the £10 monthly subscription fee for Sky+ if you don't have a couple of the top channels as far as I know. Digitalspy forums and avforums are good sites for technology information.

Thanks for all this info. I might just wait and get the recordable freeview when it comes out as DH says he doesn't want any extra channels, and I'm not bothered either.

To get a sky+ for a reduced rate (not sure about for free) you simply phone up and tell them you want to cancel. They will ask you why, and you just tell them you are thinking of getting a Freeview PVR (there are loads of these out, not sure why you say you are waiting for them to come out!). Sky will usualy offer you something like Sky+ for £99, but they try it on, so if you tell them youd go for £49 with free fitting, thats what you will get.

If you dont subscribe to 2 premium channels (I get the sports packages no movies), you will have to pay £10 per month Sky+ premium.
