For some reason my search won't work, so I apologize if this has already been asked.

Does anyone have any experience with Sky Bus? Please share. We have an airport within 30 minutes which has a Sky Bus locations.
thanks.

My brother is flight attendant for Sky Bus. I have not flown it yet, but I am flying the end of this month to go to LA!! What are you looking to find out?

I have 2 flights coming up in the next 2 months - the first is 3 weeks from today. I've yet to hear anything negative on them, but will let you know how my 1st flight experience with them goes.

I would assume that would be out of Westover.....I looked into these flights as well. The down side is that there are no direct flights so you have to fly into Ohio I believe, and then onto Tampa.....or do they now fly into Orlando now? Southwest still seems to be the better choice....many directs and if you watch pricing you can get pretty good deals.

I've flown Skybus several times and am getting ready to do so again next weekend. For us it's easy because I'm only an hour from Columbus.

I believe you would have to fly into Columbus and then fly to florida. Meaning you would have to pay for 2 seperate flights each way. Even with $10 or $20 seats I'm not sure how much you would save by the time you bought all 4 flights and paid for checked luggage per person.

But as far as the flights go we've had wonderful experiences with them. They take off and land on time, planes are very clean, staff wonderful and very accomidating.

Although Skybus is an interesting option, it really isn't convenient for you to fly on them to Florida for Disney compared to Southwest Airlines. Currently the closest airport to Disney that they serve is St. Augustine (about 2 hours drive). They operate as a totally no frills airline with everything costing you money, food, blanket, beverages, checked bags $5 for first 2 and $50/bag after that.

From Chicopee, you'll definitely need to fly to Columbus first and then you're on your own for claiming your luggage and then transferring them to the next flight which will incur more fees for rechecking them again.

If you want to try them, why not fly them out of Portsmouth, NH where you can get a nonstop into St. Augustine but I still recommend staying with Southwest Airlines.

Other than the earlier issues that I mentioned, Skybus does have modern Airbus equipment with all leather seating and qualified personnel to fly the planes. Just be prepared to pay for everything as the flight attendants are working on a base hourly pay with a commission for every item sold on the flights. For some silly reason, the airline tells you that you can't bring your own food on the flight but most people who do only get a scolding as the flight attendants can't force you to step out of the plane while enroute. LOL!

I hope I cleared some of your questions up... do a quick search on Google and you'll find a number of reviews on flying them by searching "review Skybus".

To clarify, you can go through Greensboro, NC, their other hub, rather than Columbus. They also fly out of Stewart/Newburgh, NY which is nearby CT, which is where I fly via Airtran. But as other have said, there are no official connecting flights, so you are responsible for them yourself, including retrieving and rechecking your luggage.

I am intrigued by Skybus, and may use them in the future, but WDW would be tough with their current routes. If you can get $10 per leg ticket (which is $20 after taxes), it would be $80 RT (4 legs) to St. Augustine. Factor in having to pay $5 per piece of luggage, recheck your luggage for a connection, and end up in St. Augustine where you can't use ME and need to rent a car (at a likely higher rate than MCO), it may not make sense.

What I plan on using it for is my yearly trip to HH. Rather than the 16 hr. car ride, if I can fly into Greensboro, NC, I avoid the hassle of the big city traffic (NYC through DC) and have an easy 4-5 hour drive to HH.
