you can bid on hotels or timeshares.
timeshare are generally 7 nights only
hotels can be anywhere from 1-14 nights and anything in between
with a timeshare you need to add $195 (exchange fee) and $15 (paper work fee) to your bid for the bottom line
for the hotel it is $32 a DAY fee.
in my opinion the best deals are closer to when you leave - these are timeshares that were traded to RCI - and they claim it is excess inventory.
the hotels are listing from that hotel
I would start looking a month or two before - but only bid on what you will take.
you are bidding so be careful - I like to wait until the auction is almost ending to bid - so people who think it is cute - won't be bidding against you.
someone here taught that to me!
some timeshares and hotels receive no bids what so ever - not because they aren't great places - but their times were not convenience or even worst - it was too late for people to change their plans.
so get a back up reservation some place else - one that you can cancel within 10 days without penalty.
