Sky Auction Question

Hi. I am new to posting here, but I have gotten many great ideas from reading this forum. I am planning a trip for January or May of 2004 for four adults and one toddler, and I want to use Sky Auction to book our lodging. My question is this: when the auction is for "7 nights in a two-bedroom suite", are you bidding for an actual two bedroom condo or villa, or are you getting a smaller suite at the resort? Thanks!

Hi orlosipher, and welcome to the DIS!!:D

I'm not sure I understand your question...but I have a 2bdrm suite at Orange Lake booked in Dec. through a SkyAuction Ready Set Go auction. This is my first time going through SkyAuction and our first time at Orange Lake. When I checked the OL website, it says their 2bdrm. suites are 1200 square ft. with a full kitchen and washer/dryer (and there is a floor plan to look at as well). I'm assuming we will get this type of accomodation when we check in!! There are also auctions/availability for 1 bdrm suites on SkyAuction, but my understanding is if you bid on/win an auction for a 2 bdrm, you should get a 2 bdrm and not a smaller accomodation.

I guess everyone's expectations are different, but when we stayed in a similar (also about 1200 sq. ft) 2 bdrm suite at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club last Nov. we were thrilled with our suite. We're really looking forward to our stay at Orange Lake!!

Ditto to what Localgirl said. I don't know if this is what you are asking but I'll give the info. Sometimes if you get a 2 bdrm, it might be 2 one bedroom units connected by one main entrance. Same for 3 bedrooms. It depends on the floorplans of where you stay.
Localgirl, we stayed at OLCC through Sky Auction and we had a blast. You will enjoy!

Thanks Localgirl and Jessiesue for the replies and the welcome.

I guess I wasn't very clear about my question. Orange Lake is the resort I am actually interested in, and what I meant was that when I looked up accomodations at the OLCC web site, there are 2 bedroom villas, which have the 1,200 square feet and full kitchen, etc.; but the suites are smaller and don't have a full kitchen or separate living area, just 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. I was just worried that the latter is what I am actually bidding on. It sounds, though, based on Jessiesue's reply, that I'm worrying about nothing.

I was not aware that Orange Lake had any units that did not have kitchens.

I see that on the website now.

Never heard of anyone getting the suite instead of the villa with the kitchen and everything else.

Should not be a worry at all.

I hadn't seen that there were 2 bdrm suites that were different than the 2 bdrm villas we are expecting! I dug around a bit on the Sky Auction site, however, and the info they give regarding the OLCC 2 bdrm units lists a full kitchen and a washer/dryer, which I don't see listed in the smaller suite description. For that reason, I believe the units we bid on are the larger units.

Honestly, if we ended up in the smaller units I would be disappointed, but for the rate we're getting, I'd take it if we had no other choice. We don't plan to be in the villa much anyway, but we do plan to take full advantage of the kitchen, and a kitchenette should do. Since I haven't read otherwise here on the DIS that others have been given these smaller accomodations, we're gonna hope for the best and have a great trip regardless!!:D

Good luck to you!

I went back and checked the description on SkyAuction, too, and now I do see the info. about a full kitchen, etc. I'm not worried at all now. Thanks, everyone!

Now I just have to actually win an auction!
