I bid and won a RSG auction on Friday night. Friday afernoon I put a hold on the condo I wanted- a 2 bedroom at CPGV. I received an e-mail confirmation back that they had put it on hold. After I won the auction, I promptly sent them an e-mail with my info as requested. Today I received an e-mail back from them that my hold had expired and that condo was no longer available for the date I wanted. I responded by e-mail to them, but I am really mad. I can't even find their phone number anywhere on their website. I looked at the RSG auctions again and the only 3 decent ones for my week are Summer Bay, Silver Lake, and Vacation Village at Parkway. If I don't get the CPGV, which of these 3 is the best? Which is more luxurious? I am really upset because I wanted CPGV. Do I have any recourse? Help!!

I have never won a RSG go auction but every other auction I have won, you had to log into the site after the auction was over and select your dates/property that way, and not by email.

As for your other choices, it all depends on what resort amenities your enjoy. We stayed at Vacation Village at Parkway last Summer and really liked it. It was very close to the parks, our 1 bedroom unit had a large screen tv in it as well. We do not usually use many of the one site activities, but Vacation Village seemed limited in the activities it offered. We just enjoyed the room. We tried to get it again this year but did not want to risk anything last minute.

When were you charged for the auction??

I did not win a RSG auction, but a regular 7 night auction.
I received an email stating that I had to respond to them via their website, verifying the date and sending the charge through.

Have you already paid or did you not send it in yet??

skyauction # 1-800-929-9929

call them monday first thing see if they can fix the problem

i always like to call after i have won an auction just to make sure things are OK....since it was friday night and they are not open on the weekends, it may have been a glitch in their system

they say the inventory is constantly changing ....so maybe they might have some more at cypress

what are the chances another person who won the ready set go .....wanted the same week as you.....???

we have been to Vacation Village at Parkway.....the units are actually quite nice ....just make sure you get a FULL kitchen ...otherwise you will be in a smaller one bedroom ( if you get the two bedroom there should not be a problem, since it combines the larger and smaller one bedrooms )

only other thing with V V is the lack of washer dryer in some units in the older buidlings ( although they have laundries on each floor ), we were lucky enough to get a unit in a newer buidling ( friday checkin if i remember correctly ) that had stacked washer/dryer

as to the others we have not stayed at either yet, but will be at both later this year one on an exchange and one through skyauction

hope you can work this out with them monday .....they open at 9

they have always been very helpful to me

good luck

Thanks for the replies and the phone number. I called Sky Auction promptly at 9 AM and spoke with a customer service person there. She told me that when you put the room on hold on Friday the computer is supposed to hold it for 48 hrs, since they don't work on Saturday. The computer messed up and only held it for 24 hours and now somehow it is no longer available. Her supervisor put a request in to CPGV and is waiting for a response. My credit card was on file so they did already charge me. I don't really want any of the other condos, so I hope this works out. I am worried about Vacation Village because the 2 bedroom is a lock-off and I don't feel comfortable with my kids in the 2nd part alone. I don't like Silver Lake because the condos don't have carpet in them. And I am not sure about Summer Bay because there isn't much feedback on it. I also think the condos don't have carpet there either. There reason I don't want all tile is because I have a toddler and he is not that great of a walker. I'm afraid he'll slip on the tile. I am so upset that I couldn't sleep last night. I guess it's dumb to get so upset about $260. Any feedback on the other resorts just in case. Am I stupid to worry about the 2 bedroom being a lock-off? Thanks.

it is an lock off.....but the unit we were in.....had a shared vestibule.....meaning a central entrance that is keyed ......then two more entrances ( keyed ) to the actual units once you are through that main door

you would probably be fine with this

on a side note....there seemed to be a lot of tile ( kitchen area and surrounding areas ) at Vacation Village too, but not all through out if memory serves me correctly

that is exactly the computer glitch i was thinking about ....winning on a weekend and not having the "hold" stay put....

even with the emails to Skyauction, you could not have changed that since they are not open on the weekends

thanks for the heads up on that ..

by the way, what are your dates, please post them

hope this works out

Did you request the hold when you bid or after you won and paid? If it's there when you bid, you should go ahead and request it right then because it most likely won't be there when the auction ends as the RSG inventory changes from minute to minute.

When are you going? It's very possible that CPGV will show up again for your date, so keep checking if you have some time.

Silver Lake is a nice small resort right next to Animal Kingdom. Summer Bay is bigger and has more activities, but it is further away from everything.

Wouldn't hurt to call them. They might be able to work out something for you. However, if there is availibility in another resort for that date, they may just require you to take that resort. That's part of the risk w/ a RSG auction. If it had been for a specific resort auction for a specific date and there was no availability, they usually work w/ you to find something at another resort or refund your money.

EDIT: posted this while you were postin gyour reply. Never mind! :teeth:

Today Sky Auction sent me an e-mail that they could get me a 3 bedroom condo for check-in on September 4. I had originally requested a 2 bedroom for check-in on September 5. It actually works out either way, because we are arriving on the 4th anyway. We were planning on spending the 1st night at the Pop Century. So now I am very happy. Thanks for all your responses.

Glad to hear Sky Auction came through for you! And with a 3-bdrm., no less! I'd been following this thread hoping that all would work out for you. It's great to know that Sky Auction will do what they can to accomodate winning bidders, especially when this mix up was caused by a glitch in their system.

glad to hear it worked out for you

as Local_Girl posted,

skyauction does go out of its way to help you, but, it is better dealing directly with them through the 800# when things go awry

we had a RSG auction which had to be used by the end of June, we kept looking for something and nothing was showing up for where we wanted to go to

when we called and asked what would happen, they said we could bid on another auction and they would apply the funds from the RSG auction, once we won the other auction

we did get a place in Las Vegas and only had to pay the difference between what we bid and what the original RSG cost

do not know if that is a regular practice with them, but they sure did help us ...customer service over and above

just our personal experience with them

Hey lawgs,

Where in Las Vegas did you get??? Have you been yet??? I won an auction for Carriage House that I will be using next year and am trying to find anyone who ahs been there. A co-worker is staying at Fairfield Grand Desert In Setember.

we were at the cliffs at peace canyon...we were there at the end of march...it was a very nice place in a residential area with good access to the freeway ......they also had a shuttle to the strip

the same company owns Vacation Village at the Parkway

and although they were not on the strip ( about 15 minutes away ) it was fine for us since we did grand canyon and death valley parks while we were there

we stayed at carriage house once back in the 90's on a rci exchange.....it was OK, but we have been in better ( do not know what they are like now maybe they have remodelled since ) but at the time we needed accomodation for july 4th and it came up

it is close to the strip and if not mistaken not far from that new fairfield that you mentioned

the time share scene there now has changed considreably

have also stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacations both at the Hilton and Flamingo on exchanges ( do not see HGV showing up much anymore on skyauction though )

we usually can pull exchanges with RCI but we would rather use skyauction since the value is greater....we have non stops from buffalo to las vegas on southwest so we can usually get good airfare too

vegas is a nice place to visit but we would not want to live there
