Well...I felt like complaining about my weight, DH hates hearing me complain, so I thought I'd start a journal. Afterall, like my tag says, "I'm Serious". ;)

Guess I should say a little about myself first. I'm 25 years old, 5'5" and currently weigh about 172. Ack...can't believe I actually wrote that down! Last summer, I lost 20 pounds and went from 155 to 135...then I got pregnant with DS and gained close to 60 pounds. My DS is now 6 months old and I've only lost 20 pounds. Now, I admit, those 20 pounds came off in the weeks right after the birth...I have not excercised or dieted since I gave birth so it's my own fault all this extra baby weight is still hanging around...and boy is it literally hanging around my belly. ;) I've pretty much refused to buy new clothes....I have a few things in the right size for work and a pair of jeans, but not much else, therefore I'm always complaining that nothing fits and I usually hate the way I look. I bought lots of new clothes when I lost weight last summer (size 6 or 8) so I don't want to buy lots of new, bigger clothes (size 14). Luckily, I kept all of size 10-12 clothes from before I lost weight last summer, so hopefully I'll be able to squeeze into that stuff in a month or two.

Both DH and I decided that after the Sugar Bowl (GO TIGERS!) we'd start getting healthy...for DS and for ourselves. :) We both will be following the diet I followed last summer when I lost the weight...it's SO much easier with DH also dieting! We are following the LA Weightloss plan...I didn't join, just got a copy of the diet from a friend. We also plan on exercising as much as we can...either my Tae Boe tapes (love those and they worked last time) or a walk around the neighborhood with DS if weather permits (still a bit chilly even down here)...we would ride our bikes, but they got stolen last year.

Okay...now for the real reason I wanted to start this journal...the complaining...

I just did my old Tae Boe tape for the first time in over a year...OMG I am SO out of shape! If that wasn't incentive to keep exercising I don't know what is! I had to stop a few times to catch my breath...my muscles started hurting with the warmup.  And this tape was TOO EASY for me before I got pregnant. Ugh. It's so frustrating! I can't believe I let myself get like this while pregnant...at least next time I'll be more aware of staying in shape.

These next few weeks are going to be the toughest for me...along with a 6 month old and a full time job, I'm also studying for the bar exam which I'm taking mid-Feb. I graduated from law school last May, was supposed to take the bar in July, but DS arrived a month early on July 2nd so I couldn't take it. Usually when I study I eat junk food...it's gonna get tough when the exam gets closer. Or maybe, I'll be so stressed and nervous that I won't be hungry at all...a girl can dream... ;)

Thanks for listening!

:wave2: Hi Allison! I wouldn't worry too much about that junk food! Between studying for the bar and taking care of a 6 month old (what a cutie!), you're probably going to be too busy to eat! Good for you for getting out that Tae Bo tape!! It'll soon be too easy for you again!

Keep up the good work!

Thanks so much. :)

DH and I both did the tape last night. I laughed a lot! LOL! It was great being able to do it with someone else. I had more incentive to keep going even when it hurt...like I wanted to prove to DH how well I could do. Silly, I know, but I did get through almost the entire tape last night without stopping once or doing an easier version of the exercise.

Stepped on the scale this morning and I've already lost a few pounds! Yipee!! Started on Monday at 174, now at 171!

Going to my hometown today for a funeral. Worried about what I'll do for lunch. A friend is riding with me (it's about an hour away), so we'll probably just grab something really quick on our way out...I have to get back up here as soon as possible to get some studying in. Not sure what I'll do. I definitely know I DO NOT want to break my diet! I know lots of fast food restaurants now have salads...maybe a salad and a grilled chicken sandwhich w/o the bun would be okay. I'm not really sure how bad that would be for me, but I won't have much of a choice.

I am so proud of myself! Mardi Gras stuff is starting to pop up all over town, and this includes king cakes...yum! Yesterday at work, someone brought a king cake and I didn't touch it! Woo Hoo!! Told myself I had to go at least one full week on the diet without cheating...I know if I do that, I'll lose a few pounds and I won't want to cheat because I'll want to keep losing (at least that's what happened last time I dieted) :) I really am proud, though. Everytime I'd go in the kitchen area to refill my water bottle or on my way to the bathroom, I gaze longingly at the kingcake...but I never took a bite!

Our exercise routine is going well. I've figured I can squeeze it in on tues, thurs, sat and sun. M, W, F are out because of studying. I was planning on exercising during my short time home for dinner inbetween work and studying at the library, but I decided it was more important for me to spend that time with DS since he would be asleep by the time I got home from the library. I may try to squeeze in some situps or arm exercises with my hand weights once I get home after studying...just a little something.
