Skipping Stingray City b/c I am afraid?

DH wants all three of us to skip it. All he can think of is Steve Irwin. There are plenty of other things to do.

I've been twice and had very different experiences. The first time was booked through Port Adventures. It was just hectic with so many people there. The water was stirred up, you didn't know where the stingrays were at any moment. Too overwhelming for me. The second time was booked with a private company and it was only my family. For the same price we were able to get to SC when no one else was there and it was serene. He took us snorkeling and showed us creatures we would have never noticed without a guide. Then he took us to Starfish Beach. Great day!

Is it UNTHINKABLE to skip Stingray City in GC?

Not in the least. We have no fear of stingrays but stingray city has never tempted us.
