SkIpPiNg SkOoL fOr FrEe DiNiNg!!! (Update Sept 20 ~ 1 more day!)

We've stayed at both Pop and POFQ and love them both (for different reasons.) What we started doing on many of our trips (because I can't pull myself away from Disney ;)) is adding one last night at Pop. Have you thought about doing this either for your first or last night? You won't have the dining plan for that night, but since it's only one night it shouldn't be that bad, right? That way, you get to do the dining plan AND experience a little bit of Pop :goodvibes

We will be going to Fl the day before, but we will probably not arrive until 10:00 that night. I will have to check into that to see if we would like to do that. Thanks! :thumbsup2

Ok, so our dates doooo overlap. We will check in on the 25th!

Your explanation of booking is sooo close to my own...minus the part where we wanted to stay at Pop cause we had never done so. Honestly when looking at the difference between a value and upgrading and the moderate it just didnt make sense not to go with a mod. A though it wasn't always the case. I could have sworn that when we went in 2010 the cost to upgrade was only like $10 a day pp. Now with it closer to $20 (I think like $16) it just adds up far too quickly.

So you are leaving on the first day Food and Wine?

We are hoping to be there long enough for that, ToT 10 miler and MNSSHP. I don't know though.. that is a lot to fit in.

I hear ya on trying to figure out what places to eat at. Mine gets complicated because I am not the solo planner on this trip. So... what did you learn that makes you need to figure out your restaurants this week?? Hmmm your 180? I think mine is the 29th of this month so 11 days. Since you check in 3 days before I do... that is 8 so that must be it? Yes? I am nervous now... I hate to miss anything in my possible planning strategies. :rotfl:

I have not even looked at the Food & Wine dates.
What is ToT 10 miler?
You do have a lot to get in if you plan for all of that! :goodvibes
Yeah, I need to decide this week what restaurants.
AND, I'll need to look at the WDW calander to see which parks we want to go to each day to know dates for restaurant ressies.
I have to get busy!!
Hopefully, you have a idea of where everyone wants to go!

OOH OOH!! We did this on our December trip (front end) It was not only because I wanted dh to be able to see Pop, but because the cost of 2 nights was less than the increase in airfare to flight out on our check in day to WL. Even when we looked at food, we came out ahead to stay the 2 extra nights at Pop. This is definitely something I would consider in the future. :goodvibes

That would be nice to get in 2 extra days!

Sorry to hear you can't stay at POP, but you're going to love POFQ! Can't wait to hear where you'll be eating.

I know, I'm so excited! :goodvibes I think the POFQ pool looks so cool! :cool2:

Hope you dont mind me jumping in. Love hearing people plan trips. So happy Lexi won her dress was beutifull. I love seeing my dd dressed up. Good luck with ADR. Look forward on reading more, might take a peak at your last trip.

:welcome: I love reading people plan trips too, especially when I'm going.
I have learned SOOOO much from everyone on here!
I love dressing up my DD too, it's like having a live doll to play with!

I will have to say I hink your kids will LOVE POFQ better than POP! And you will love the queen beds :)

Can't wait to hear about dining plans!!

I'm glad to hear you say that about POFQ! I know they will love it there!
We could probably just use 1 king because it seems like we all end up piled together when we're on a trip!

if you still would really like pop...give them a call and check to see, i have heard they opened up some rooms there for the free dinning...i cant reveal my sources, but lets just say it has been offered there inthe last few weeks.
;)

I have called back once to check, but keep forgetting to try again.

Following along. You have a beautiful family!

Thanks and :welcome: !!!!

Oh my goodness, Amy...we're coming down at the end of September for the Tower of Terror race, so we'll be arriving the day y'all are leaving! Boo!!

So excited that you got free dining and that you're getting to stay at a resort that's on your wishlist! Very awesome! Sorry that you didn't get Pop though, but I'm betting POFQ will be awesome. I've always wanted to stay at Riverside!

I have been busy this weekend trying to decide what restaurants that we want to eat at. It is so tough narrowing down the list!
I hope to have it figured out tonight, but I doubt I will!
But, thanks to reading Dancegirls PTR, I know I better get it figured out this week!!!

Hahaha....glad that by reading my PTR it helped move you along a little bit.

I'm so excited that we're staying at the same resort and that our dates cross over a few days. We do love Pop, but I'm really looking forward to the queen sized beds!!! Those doubles at Pop are rough...we have a king bed at home so Tony always ends up sharing a bed with Maddie and I get a bed to myself. They are both heavy sleepers and I'm a VERY light sleeper.

I have not even looked at the Food & Wine dates.

That would be nice to get in 2 extra days!

I believe the first day of F&W is 9/28. So you might be able to catch a bit of it before you leave (if you are not leaving first thing in the morning)

The Tower of Terror 10 mile race. Some how, I got talked into doing it... I am not a runner... this will be the first time I enter something like this. Hopefully it won't kill me. :rotfl2: bit unsure I will survive though...

I have an idea of what restaurants to go to... but so does each person in the party. With 5 adults and 2 kids this is going to be an interesting trip.:goodvibes

And the 2 extra days were perfect. It gave me time to get onto east coast time. Also to do a couple things outside of the parks that made it so that we didn't have to take time away from our "park days"

POFQ is nice! And I'm sure your kids will love the pool slide. That thing is pretty cool! One day you'll stay at Pop but I don't think you'll be disappointed with POFQ. I'm excited to find out where you decide to eat.

That is neat that we'll be there one right after the other.
It will be fun reading your TR.
That's awesome you'll be in the ToT race.
Have you signed up your niece & nephew to race too?

Yes, you just keep updating, so I'll know what I need to do next! :thumbsup2:goodvibes

I didn't think about the difference between the double & queen. Queen will be better since a lot of times one of them will end up our bed by morning.

Is everyone going to eat together or will you go your own seperate ways for dining?

Hi! Your fall trip sounds exciting and I'm so happy you're able to go to WDW again :wizard:.

L&L are so cute ~ they sure grow up fast don't they? My oldest is about to turn 16!

I love those cookies, I haven't seen them yet. Especially the Minnie Mouse Icons, adorable!

Can't wait to hear more about your trip!

I also heard that Disney typically does a soft opening a day or two before.

And... we plan to eat a lot of meals together. Some without.:goodvibes

The September trip will just be Mike and I!

We've stayed at Pop twice but never POFQ so I am excited to hear what you think about it! I can't wait to hear where you choose to eatpopcorn::

I just finished reading your last tr. Sounds like it was a blast. Cant wait to head what you have planned for this trip.

We love going in the fall. One day I would love to go in December!
They grow up way too fast! I can't imagine mine at 16, hopefully they will be 'sweet 16' year olds!

I found another Disney cookie design this weekend. I will have to take pic & post this week.

I can't keep all of your trips straight! :) Will you do a PTR for that one too?

I finally figured out our dining last night &
I get to reserve Dining tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes

Thanks! I was bummed that I never posted my last day & now it's closed

Hi Friend!!! I had some time to play catch up with my "old" disers!

Lexi and Levi are growing even more lovely! Twelve! :scared1: Hannah was on the phone tonight and I overheard, "I know. Can you believe it?" UGH! Drama at 10; I am afraid of 12! Their one friend told me all about her "crushes" at their birthday dinner. haha!

Now, you have to tell me about the Pageant at school. (And of course, she was the winner!) This is such a foreign concept to me in the North! Do many middle schools in your area do this? Our schools have a "talent show."

We stayed at Pop for our first night last (Dec) trip bc we arrived so late, and I was able to get the room for $84. Gregg and I thought it was a cool resort, but
I have to admit that my girls are spoiled by staying at Deluxe DVC properties. Hannah really disliked Pop Century. She felt like the giant icons were cool, but old. She thought the room was too small. I don't know that Emma was a bothered as Hannah, but she too prefers more space.

I imagine Pop would be a world of difference from the Deluxe!

We had drama in 5th grade, but none so far in 6th grade.
Boys are so much easier when it comes to the drama!

Every High School has Pageants. They may have talent shows too. I know they also had talent shows 25 yrs ago when I was in HS
Not every Middle School has a pageant, but a few do. It's a PTA fundraiser, so it would be up to each school's PTA.

Today was my ADR day.

I spent the weekend trying to figure out what day we would visit each park, so I would know which day I needed to book each restaurant.
I went to work this morning & realized that I left my Disney notebook at home that listed which park(s) we would visit each day
I could only remember one day, so during my lunch break I reserved O'hana.
There was only ONE time available!!! It was not the hour I wanted, but after thinking about for the rest of the day, I'm happy with the time.
I'm very excited about this restaurant since it will be a 1st for us.

One down - O'hana @ 8:00 pm

After work, I had to meet Brad at Lexi & Levi's school for end-of-quarter conferences. Then out to eat & Target.
We came home & I was finally able to book our dining reservations at 8:00 tonight.

I booked:

Biergarten (Levi's choice)
Chef Mickey
(We just have to eat with ::MickeyMo)
1900 Park Fare
Rainforest

Crystal Palace
Sci-Fi (Lexi's choice)

Did I get everything I wanted?

No.

The two pink above was not part of my plan.
I wanted T-Rex, but there is already no availability for my week (after 4:00 pm)
I could not decide what to replace it with, so I reserved 1900 Park Fare and Rainforest. I'm going to think about it for a few days and I will have to keep one & cancel one.
We have been to 1900 Park Fare before, but we have never been to Rainforest.

I really, really want that T-Rex reservation. I wasn't sure about it before I made the reservation, but since it's not available, it makes me want it even more!
I will be checking online every day!!!

Call T-Rex directly!! I bet you get what you want. My ADR date was last Thursday and the only thing they had available for T-Rex was after 8:00pm. I hung up with Disney and called T-Rex and booked the day I wanted for 6:30 pm, :cool1: I figured that should be enough time to arrive from AK. There is a thread dedicated to this somewhere on the boards. I'll try to find it and include the link.

OK, found the link http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2454738 and the phone number (407) 828-8739

Thanks! You Rock!!!! :flower3:
I'm going to call them today!

Yay I just found your PTR! I posted couple times on your last TR. We are going the exact same dates! I had issues with dining too. I called yesterday at 7am and could not get Le Cellier lunch the whole week. I have never had an issue getting this in the past. I was able to flip somethings around though. We are eating at Crystal Palace, Rainforest and Sci fi as well. Fingers crossed that you get T-Rex!! Can't wait to read more!
