We have three children DS8, DD7 and DD4, we are going for the first time this May and are starting to plan specifics as far as what we are doing each day. My DH thinks we should skip MGM alltogether this trip because the kids are small and he does not feel they will enjoy it. I'm not sure since I have never been. I would hate to skip MGM and then regret it feeling like we missed out :confused3

We went last fall when my kids were 7, 6 and 3 and they loved MGM!! We did one EE morning and left by 11 am and then returned another late afternoon for favorite attractions again and Fantasmic. They two older girls did ToT and my oldest rode RnRC!! The little guy loved seeing Monsters' Inc. along w/Playhouse Disney, Ariel and eating lunch at the SciFi Drive-In. Have fun!!!

Fantasmic. Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. Playhouse Disney Live. Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. Beauty and the Beast show. Muppetvision 3-D. Star Tours. Voyage of the Little Mermaid show. Tower of Terror/Rock 'n' Roller Coaster for the 7 and 8 year olds. Cool restaurants like '50s Prime Time Cafe, Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater, Toy Story Pizza Planet.

Yup, except for all those things, it's a pretty boring park for young kids. :lmao:

I wish we had done it when the kids were younger! There are :yay: sooo many fun things for them to do. I also thought it was one to skip, but it is so much fun. Of course now at 9, it is their absolute favorite park!!!

don't skip it! whatever you do, don't skip it! my kids have a hard time deciding whether mk or mgm is their favorite park! in addition to all the things others mentioned, there is also great character meet/greets in the "hub" under the sorcerer's hat... mgm is a MUST DO! :)

I absolutely wouldn't skip it! If I had to skip one, it would be AK.

My girls love the shows, especially ending with Fantasmic. It's a tradition now to see Fantasmic on every trip.

My older DD has LOVED ToT and RnR since she was tall enough for them. They love the Ariel and Beauty and the Beast shows. They love going to the Honey I Shrunk the kids playground. They love the Muppets 3-D movie. They enjoy the Great Movie Ride. They used to love Play house Disney show but are too old for it now. They even enjoy the animated stuff we did on our last trip (near the Ariel and playhouse Disney shows) where you can color in cartoons or have your voice be the characters voice and meeting all the characters there too.

Go for it!

MGM is always the very first park we go to. All of my kids really enjoy it (12, 9,7,5) and there is something there for everyone. The shows are really great and the parade is nice. If you're kids are the adventurous type, maybe they could try RnR and ToT. If you're their at night, don't miss Fantasmic!

Don't skip MGM! How many days are you staying? Maybe you don't need to skip any parks. I like going to AK but you can do it in a few hours if you hit the highlights. With the ages of your kids they may not be wild about Epcot. There are some cute things for them in Futureworld, but the countries are boring to some children. My kids love Epcot (12, 7) but I know some children are not so thrilled there. They have done a lot in the past few years to make it more kid friendly. Next to MK, I bet MGM will be a family favorite!

DS6 loved meeting all the Disney characters but by far his favourites were Sully and Mike. We didn't realise the Power Rangers were there too - you should have seen the look on his face when he saw them - I thought he would pass out with excitement!

MGM is great.....

We saw the most characters at MGM when we went. Definitely dont skip it!

I love MGM and my kids ages 2 thru 14 have always loved MGM. What we have usually done is split a day with AK and MGM. We do AK in the morning and only hit Dinoland, KS, FOTL, Kali, and then get over to MGM for the rest of the day. It can be done, but it's best to have an itinerary. Also, we don't usually do many of the show at MGM. If you do want to do all the shows you will need a full day. My kids love Star Tours, TOT, RNR, Great Movie Ride, Honey I shrunk the kids playground, back Lot tours and Muppets. Lots of great characters in MGM!

I don't know how many days you have for the parks, but if it's only 4 and you want to have an extra day at MK (which is the kids favorite usually) then try to do the split day. You'll atleast get to see some of MGM and know what it's like for the future trips. If you have more than four days than of course don't skip it and do full day at both AK and MGM! Both are great parks!

Just want to add, I wish we had skipped it, but our kids were only 4 and 2 at the time. If they had been older (as yours are) we might have enjoyed it more.

Our kids enjoy it and have a blast there. We skip the thrill rides but that is fine with us for now. There seems to be plenty for them to see and enjoy.

Don't skip MGM OR Animal Kingdom. I am shocked that someone would even suggest skipping AK. Kids LOVE animals! Dinoland is awesome for kids, and be sure to visit the Conservation Station and petting zoo!~

I agree with CleveRoks! I havent made it though all the posts but this sums up what I was expecting to chime in on ... Our DSs 3 and 6 loved it! Granted Tower of Terror and The Rockin Roller Coaster was above them age wise and height wise for DS3, they both were especially intrigued with the Stunt Car show, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, The Back Lot Tour/Behind the Scenes tram ride and Bear in the Big Blue house! Also what the above poster mentioned. We certainly wont miss it any time we go.... And I am sure you wont regret it after you attend!! Honestly, I felt Epcot was far more above their ages than MGM. Don't miss out! :wizard:

This may not be a popular viewpoint, but we skipped MGM last year with no regrets, after not enjoying it the previous two years. Did 3 days at MK, 2 days at Epcot, 1 day at AK, and 1 day at Sea World, 3 days at Universal parks. We are just not impressed with this park, especially not compared to Universal Studios, IMHO.

WDW is absolutely overloaded with fun things to do. You can't do it all on a single trip. So something must be skipped, and it may be sensible to skip an entire park. We used to go on long-weekend trips when our girls were 4, 4, and 1, and we would always to go MK and AK and just sometimes to Epcot or MGM.

Bottom line: There are things your kids will probably enjoy at MGM (we adore the Beauty & the Beast show and Fantasmic) but you can have a wonderful trip without MGM if that's what works for you.

Oooh, don't skip it!!! Even when I was younger, MGM has been one of my favorite parks. MGM and the Magic Kingdom are tied for me. =)

You should go if you have the time! DD had some of her best times there! There was no one around at 9am when we went. She walked down the street holding hands with Donald Duck! She loved Mgm, it had a cute parade. She had to see the Lights, Action stunt show there. She like Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast show, posed with a pink power ranger. She met Jojo, the guys from Monsters Inc. and had a great time there. I wouldnt spend all day, but atleast a morning.
