Skipping Christmas- WDW Style! December 24-28!

Teresa, that is so awesome! I would love to be a cast member involved in DVC. I would be Disney's best advocate for DVC. We love being members. I have talked several co-workers into buying DVC. So far, they appear to be happy with their purchases (well, at least they're still talking to me so I have to assume they're happy.) :)

Well, if you ever have the opportunity, I'd be happy to give you some info, pointers, and tips about how to go about getting an interview, getting them to hire you, and then how to go about being successful at the position.:)

POR and A Bit of Family Drama

This is where the TR gets somewhat interesting. My mom would die if she knew I was going to tell you guys about the family fights we got into on the afternoon of the 26th. Well, more like her and my dad and then me and my mom. Drama isn't unheard of in our family (more like we all deserve Academy Awards for Best Family Drama:rotfl: ), but at WDW? Come on- as my friend Kate said on Facebook when I told her about the arguing, "But it's WDW!! That's the happiest place on Earth!" Yeah, dream on, Kate, I thought- not with my looney family!!

Things were going OK when we go back to POR. We sat in the room and ate PB&J sandwiches like normal human beings.... no problems.

Until my dad suggested we go out and walk around POR for awhile. He said from what he saw the morning he checked in, the resort was absolutely lovely and he thought we'd all enjoy walking around for a bit. Well my mother immediately cut him off, saying she wasn't going anywhere. I said I'd go with my dad and brother, and my brother (typical 8yo) popped off with "You aren't going anywhere with me and Daddy." Needless to say, neither of my parents corrected him so I simply told him that I’d go if I wanted to and he wasn’t going to tell me I couldn’t. So DD, DB8, and I walked out the door and not more than two seconds later, my mother came flying outside pitching a total fit. She was furious that I’d told my brother what to do (I didn’t exactly here hear her telling him to mind his own business) and was standing there in the middle of the sidewalk screaming! I defended myself against her- who wouldn’t?- which only seemed to make her madder. I mean, I didn’t do anything! :confused3 She went back to the room in a total P.O.ed mood and my DD and DB8 continued our walk.

~ADD Moment: Those kinds of blow-ups are common in our family. My mom seems to enjoy stirring up trouble.... my dad and I rarely fight but my mom and I- whole different story. Part of the reason I took the CM job for seven months was to get away from her!!:headache:

Anyways, DD, DB8, and I headed over to the lobby/food court/gift shop to look around for awhile. Here’s some pictures for y’all’s viewing pleasure-

I was so impressed with the gift shop and food court. Talk about lots of choices!!! Overall I was extremely impressed with POR in general. Definitely will be staying there again!!:thumbsup2

Next part coming up..... soon.

Just because it's Disney doesn't mean family drama doesn't follow. Long days packed with activities in the Florida heat are the perfect breeding environmental conditions for tempers to flare. It's normal. We had some at POR, too. My dh and I had a fight and he stormed out of the room while I was yelling at him. There was an unfortunate man standing outside our room and I saw that his eyes were like saucers as he was forced to overhear our drama. :rotfl: Poor guy.

Isn't POR gorgeous? I loved it so much. I'd stay there again if it weren't for the fact that I have three kids and one room is awfuly cramped for a growing family like mine. I assume you had a trundle room in the Alligator Bayou? It's so lovely there but the rooms are tiny for 5 people.

I'm loving the pictures. It brings me back to my own trip. Keep them coming!

Yup. I slept on the trundle. BIG mistake. I had the backache from Hades the day after I slept on it.... so I switched to our air mattress and that was much better.:goodvibes

My son slept on it when we went, he loved the trundle. But he was only 6 at the time. Six year olds can sleep anywhere.

Here comes the update.... so hang on a few minutes.....

*NOTE- this next update will not contain pictures. I was kinda shot on energy that night and didn't even bother pulling out the camera.

Just curious.. how did you end up with the trundle bed? I thought that would have been reserved for your 8 yr old brother? :confused3

My brother wanted to sleep with my dad and I did NOT want to share a bed with my sister. So my mom and sis shared, my dad and brother shared, and I got the trundle.

Enjoying your trip report, Soarin'! I love those pictures of POR, especially the Bayou section. If my family ever goes back, then we'd most likely stay there.

Just caught up on your TR. I absolutely love your pictures of the Grand Floridian and POR.

POR has a special place in my heart and now when I think about planning another trip, I'll price everything and eventually get nostalgic about POR and settle on it. (And believe me, I've looked at a lot of different dates recently).

I so understand where you are coming from regarding your mom. Sounds like her and my mom could be sisters.

Wonder, it's not going to happen. She's too busy riding the Haunted Mansion and Soarin' to think about little 'ol us waiting for her to update her TR.

(psst.. I updated mine tonight)

Sorry, Soarin' I'm shamelessly plugging my own TR since you aren't around. :teeth:

She forgot about us. :sad1: She's having too much fun working at WDW now to want to finish her Dec TR.

Maybe we can call up her manager and make it a requirement to finish this TR in order to complete the CP?
