Skipper Canteen Secret Menu

I have been reading about the secret menu items at Skipper Canteen - are they still available during covid times? (The shrimp and cole slaw is of great appeal). We will be there on Saturday!

Ate there a few weeks ago and the secret items were: Brazlian cheese bread with sauce (so good), some skewers (can't remember if it was chicken or pork, but they were just ok), and the shrimp dish (didn't get it).

not a secret - more just off menu. The waiter tells you about them when he comes to your table

huh. We didn’t have to ask. They always have told us when they come to get the drink order.

I think that they tell you the ‘specials’ but for secret menu items, you have to ask for the secret menu.

They told me the "secret menu" (personally I hate the concept...to much insider/outsider junk that we have enough of in this world without restaurants adding to it) things AS the Chef Specials. No asking for anything and no being all "this is secret, so..." or any siliness. Thank goodness.

When we were there last month, it wasn't really a secret. As we were getting ready to order, our server volunteered information on appetizers that aren't listed on the menu. The Brazilian bread was definitely the favorite for our group, but the skewers were good. I can't remember if the shrimp was offered or not. We were already ordering two other appetizers (cachapas and falafel), so we might have just opted to skip it.

Our waiter told us about them without prompting by us but ask if yours doesn't tell you.

That shrimp looks good. I have a small appetite, no one to share with (solo trip) so that might be an option for a meal for me. The skewers also. The Brazilian Bread looks kind of carb-heavy.

We’ve been to Skipper Canteen twice with no mention of specials. The horror! We’ll have to make sure to ask for the cheese bread next time.
