I am planning to visit Skipper Canteen in April.....I like the look of the menu (appreciate the dis reviews) and it seems like a "different" experience. I am willing to request a certain room to enhance that experience! According to MDE, there are three rooms - the mess hall, the jungle room and the S.E.A. Room. I have gathered from dis posts that at least one of those is rather large and not necessarily as special as the other two. Anyone have experience or advice to share? Thanks!

I have enjoyed Skipper Canteen a few times and have always requested at check in either the S.E.A. Room or the Parlor. The Parlor name may have changed over the past few years - I have heard some call it the Jungle Room or the Library. In any event, I have always been seated in the S.E.A. Room and loved it. A small room with interesting decor & artifacts. The S.E.A. Room is worth waiting for. I politely ask at check-in for that room and explain I can wait for an extra 20 mins or so if necessary. The most I have had to wait is an extra 10 mins. Enjoy!

They all are good but I prefer the large room as there is more to see. However I usually just take whatever room they give me there.

We have eaten in two rooms at Skipper's - the larger room and the room that has the circular table with the butterflies on the wall (I don't know the official names of either of these rooms, unfortunately). IMHO, no room was better than the other. The "butterfly" room was smaller, but the larger room had some funny sound effects going on. If we eat here again (and we most likely will as it's our favorite in MK), I really won't care where they seat us!

In 3 meals, we have always been in the large room. Not a problem as there is lots to see there. We do, however, make a point to walk in and visit the other rooms. Next time, I will ask for one of the other rooms for a change in scenery.

The large room, the mess hall .............. feels like a big loud food court. Once we ate there on subsequent visits I requested one of the smaller rooms and we wait. The smaller rooms are detailed and highly themed so it was quite disappointing to have the mess hall be so blah.

We went with no idea there were different rooms - we were seated in Falls Family Parlor. Loved it! Fantastic parrot chandeliers!

We were in the mess hall when we ate there. It wasn't terribly loud, but it also was only about half full. I was a little disappointed that our server didn't do any of the corny jokes like I had heard about, it was just "regular" good service.

We have a reservation there in two weeks so I might ask if we could have a different room. We have a party of 6 so I don't know if that will affect our chances of getting a different room.

While less tables, they are set up in a way they can be adjusted to fit all different size parties. Scroll down this recent review and he shows the smaller rooms and you can see how the tables can work. Our last time we were four but seated by two much larger 6-8 parties.

I would arrive a few minute early and tell them you'd like to be seated in one of the smaller rooms.

Thanks for sharing....I hope your upcoming meal includes some corny jokes! Thanks to all of the feedback on this thread, I am really looking forward to this ADR

We just did lunch there on Dec 20 and it was in the top 3 for service and food. We were in the mess hall but our server, Mya(?) was great, and we had some fun talking with the floor captain. It was a nice lunch between Pirates and Jingle Cruise.

Curious......what else was in your top 3??

Morimoto and our server Andrew, Tiffins, and then Artist Point (Raglan Road was good and it was 4th - disappointed still that their combo appetizer plate is gone and that they’re decimated their wine list). Was disappointed with the noise and food at Citricos, and while the food has improved at The Turf Club Service remains inconsistent and spotty.
