I know the other thread went rogue and hopefully this doesn't cause any problems but I really want to eat here when we go in June and just wondering for those that have gone now. I know it is possible it will get ADRs before we go but if for some reason it doesn't how does it work with the text messages?

In other words if we want to eat lunch there do we go right when we get there and try to make a "reservation" for lunch time or do we have to wait till closer to that time, get the text and just wait? The reason I ask is for FP. When the time comes to reserve them if there are no ADRS I am just trying to figure out strategy. If we have to go up an hour or so before lunch and put our name in I don't want to schedule a FP around that time and possibly miss it if that makes sense. Any ideas?

When we went:
- Walked up to podium.
- They took our phone number and party number ... maybe something else.
- They put in system and system came back with 15 minutes.
- We said great and decided to just sit in waiting area.
- I promptly got a text message telling me it would be 15 minutes and if I didn't want to wait please text DECLINE.
- We received a text about 10-12 minutes later telling us our table was ready.
- We did not get a choice of making a reservation at a set time.

But I would think it will change by June for one reason only: ADRs fill restaurants, CC Guarantee makes sure you show up.

But they will probably still use the text system in some capacity as they are now using it at Be Our Guest.

I know it didn't impact you, but any idea how long guests have to get to the podium once they receive their text? It would matter for those guests who get longer return times and so they decide to go do something else while they wait.

6 days ago we waited 40 minutes. On Christmas day we waited maybe 15 minutes. Party of 5 each day. I don't think anyone really knows it's there yet. Or at least the average park goer doesn't know yet.

I hope they stay walk up only. Or at least have some sort of walk up options for TS.

No I do not, hopefully someone who got a longer return time will answer for you.

15 minutes or you get dumped back into the queue. That was the official answer I received. Both my wait times were pretty "spot on". Basically it gives you freedom to shop around or wander around but they don't want you getting a table and then doing standby on mine train and expecting your table to still be there when you get off. For us it was perfect, we got a dinner queue going, watched holiday wishes and got a text during the finale and then went back (about 7 minutes after the text) and were promptly seated.

Very nice and others being seated seemed very pleased with the setup as well, both days.

Thanks for the info. So with a relatively short wait, one could go walk the treehouse, and if the wait were 45 minutes or so, one could ride a soon-departing steam boat. If it were an hour, one could safely keep one's fast-pass at Big Thunder and have time to ride and get back.

Reported that Sanaa is now using text messages instead of the pagers. Looks like a trend.
