This is a rumor, so if mods need to move this I understand.

Supposedly the somewhat exotic menu at the Skipper Canteen will be modified to mor closely match typical American tastes. I am hoping that if this is true that some of the current offerings will be kept.

WDW News Today was tweeting about this, I have not seen this discussed elsewhere.

This sucks. Ate there twice and the food was awesome! Hope they just add to the menu and not purge.

This was mentioned earlier today on the Rumors and News board. No word of the extent of the reworkings. If it's simply stripping the existing menu and replacing it with stuff the chicken nugget brigade subsist on, this will really burn my biscuits. I'd much rather see them just add some of the bland, boring slop that seems to appeal to so many, but keep most of the original offerings.

I hope this rumor isn't true. I've been looking forward to eating there next trip. Especially since it seems like they've got the opening bugs worked out and all the recent reviews that I've seen have been very positive.

It's a shame that Disney has to walk a fine line when it comes to food. People complain about boring food, just nuggets and burgers, and when Disney tries new and varied offerings, other people complain it's too exotic.

Totally agree! We loved the menu. Just add some basic stuff to it and call it a day.

I am hoping that this rumor is not true. I think Magic Kingdom needs at least 1 restaurant that offers a somewhat unique menu :thumbsup2

I still can't find any other source for this so I wouldn't worry yet

I always thought they needed to go the other way and make the menu more unique, many entrees were still a steak with seasoning.

I see it now in the rumors section under news. No just scanned that section quickly yesterday and missed it

It might be nice if the Americanized food they are rumored to be adding would be in the children's offerings. I saw several posts saying people would like to go but there was nothing their kids would eat. I looked at that and realized it would be tough for our kids too.

Honestly I kind of wish they'd just do that myself, although my dining plan is pretty set right now without that, but the kids' menu is problematic for a lot of families with kids who prefer plain food. It seems like it would be an easy fix to get more people in the door if they are having a tough time filling it up... there might be more adventurous adults who are skipping it due to lack of kid menu (and I think in general kids menus at Disney should have a few options that are mini version of signature dishes at the restaurant and then a couple of more plain choices... )

Not to be cranky, but trained chefs modify dishes all the time to accommodate diets or palates...switching out a sauce or substituting a vegetable is not rocket science! Why do things have to dumb down?...Is it all just reheated, premade yuck?...did I accidentally answer my own question?

This is great. I really wanted to try this place and enjoy the ambiance of a sit down restaurant in Adventureland, but is it too much to ask to have a cheeseburger or some mac and cheese on the menu? Maybe they could try and 'exotic' it up with some swiss cheese or something, but this will make it much easier to go and sit down and eat. Maybe they will have some exciting chicken nuggets with a mild Thai dipping sauce?

Mostly I am just happy that EVERYONE can enjoy this place now.

have only seen this on WDW News Today, an unofficial blog.

The blog says some of the menu items like the heads-on shrimp will be moving to Tiffins at AK and it appears the "exotic" menu was just too much for MK guests, who were complaining.

Does sound like Skippers is on its way to being another burgers and nuggets joint.

I'm fine with them adding toned down food, but please don't remove unique items
Like almost all large volume food establishments they have to contend with space for the pre prepped and last minute prep items.
Having both the exotic and standard "stuff" would likely present a large issue with available food storage areas.
The solution will probably be to eliminate most, if not all, of the initial offerings and convert to the cheaper, easier, tasteless fare served at the "Ram em in and shove em out" counter service places.
Child to Father: "What's for lunch dad?"
Father to child: "SOS son"
