Last evening DW Judy decided to skip Christmas at the Fort and go to the hospital instead. Actually it was not her decision, but was insisted on by WDW officials and ambulance attendants. We were just completing the GC parade and were turning next to the Bike Barn to complete the circuit in the GC parking area. In the turn Judy fell out of the GC hitting her head on the rail fence and falling onto the concrete breaking her left arm. She had been sitting and leaning forward, tossing candy to bystanders, and therefore had little chance to hold on in that final turn. She was taken to a local hospital while I returned to the MH with the kids. She was subsequently transferred to another hospital to utilize the skills of an orthopedic surgeon. She has now told me they will do surgery Sunday to correct the break(s), and with luck she will be allowed to return to the MH on Monday. We have missed her very much today.
Her daughter and two granchildren were already scheduled to join us next week, so now they can be here to give us some assistance.
Judy has sounded in good spirits today, and they are keeping her pain under control. We are thankful for the WDW CM's who came to her aid and particularly want to thank the Hudsons in the cart behind us and St Bernard Angel's family in front of us...I'm sorry, I didn't get your names... for stopping to render assistance until the professionals arrived and later visiting our campsite to see if we needed any further assistance. There are some really great people here at the Fort. Thanks again.
Lest you think we are deterred, we have already set reservations for next Christmas/New Years and plan to again enter the GC and site decoration judgings. These are two of Judy's favorite activities in our annual vacation.
