SkiingFast--Disneyland Pool remodel opening

No, you are exactly right, Sara! Often when you call to make your reservation at any of the DL resort hotels they are in Florida--and have never actually been to the Disneyland Resort Hotels!

This is why I started the thread--because it is important for people to know what they are paying for when they stay at the Disneyland Hotel this summer. You all know I am a Disneyland Hotel diehard fan, but when we went in November it was anything but magical due to the massive construction. I feel like I need to warn people about this, because it is so pricey to stay there, and people shoud get what they pay for. I was recently on trip advisor looking at reviews, and the Disneyland Hotel now has a few video (not picture) reviews of the Disneyland Hotel. The videos posted there of the the construction is the kind of view we had. It isn't even the view, (which is terrible--when you consider we paid for an upgraded view)--but the sounds of all the machines used to dig out the pool area. It sounded like a war zone!

The Disneyland Hotel will tell you to stay there this summer, and that the Peter Pan pool with it's slides (they mean the original pool with the one kiddy slide, and the other slight more kiddy slide) are "open". The problem is that it looks like Beruit, and there is not way you would want to hang out there. You are in the midst of chaos!

I have no doubt that I will love the Disneyland Hotel again and will stay there many more times. But this summer I highly doubt that the Monorail Pool will be open and all the brand new slides will be open as well. That is what they say in order to sell the rooms despite the chaos. I think the end of the summer is probable, but no earlier than that. In the meantime, stay at either GC or PP.

Ok I was at DL recently, infact I am there ALL the time, I saw the pool, the netherland pool.. the construction was not an eye soar at all, yeah it's going on, but it's not bad...

also I hate to say this, but I don't trust trip advisor anymore on any hotel reviews or anything—they are in a lawsuit.. google it, you will see. And then it might change your mind on reading their hotel reviews...also lisain when you were there it might have been bad like a war zone, but that was when you went, now like in last week when I was at DLR it didn't seem to bad—well at least from my point of view. If I go this weekend I will be sure to take some photos for you all. and quite possible the slides could be up by this summer(the monorail slides)--after all the staircase to get to them was already up and constructed!! like i said if i go this weekend i will take some photos, after all i might as well since i am there almost everyweekend~

also again, you might want to scroll to the bottom of this link and look at the photos, the construction does not look that bad..

Thanks, Sara--
I just went over and looked at the pictures. There is a lot going on there for sure. It doesn't look to bad from ground level with the blue construction walls up, but when that is your view that you paid extra for...then that is a big issue for many people.

I don't love trip advisor, but I was just telling people to look at the last video posted there of the disneyland hotel, because it is regarding the construction. (Just click on "phots" and look at the first video) I think the video gave an accurate representation of the view (with sounds as well). I wasn't talking about reviews.

Reviewers on trip advisor overall don't love the DLH, and we always have.

well maybe u should google the suit against trip adivsor and see why i dont trust them anymore.. the reviews are not accurate and you will find out why when you read about the suit!

well i must be a construction nut, casue it does not bother me if i was staying at DLh!! i would love that view! it is soo interesting to see how things get built at Disneyland..

Funball, I am curious to know which tower you stayed in?
What was your view like?
What times were you at the pool and how was the noise?

I was there last week...I have to say the construction did not bother us too much. We were in the Wonder, suite-9th floor with a pool/ behind hotel view. I have to say I would rather construction view over the houses behind the hotel :) It's kinds cool to see the "magic" being made.

hey!! i was just there today and guess what!! part of a water slide is up!!!

I got pictures!!

sorry blurry--but it's tbe best i could do for this one!

these next two are from the peep holes that they have near DLH, so they are kinda hazy!

staircase for new slides

these two towers are done:

this is the other tower near dreams, and this is as clean as the construction gets! not a whole lotta dust, the grounds Were really really clean!

soo i think skiingfast maybe right( and i am not just saying that cause he is my BF), the monorail water slides maybe completed and or up by summer! also lisain, i have to agree the construction view is better then seeing the houses behind the hotels! i'd take construction anyday..it does not bother me. they are re-doing the outside of the convetion area and where goofy's kitchen normally is, but that is about the extent of the construction other then the other tower only has about 5 floors done so far. and the area for the new pool etc well as you can see from the photos it is coming along pretty quickly! from looking through the peep holes i have gathered that yes by summer most of that area will or could be finished! area's of concrete that i think might be a patio area are already poured..

this thread answers to my questions about the DLH pool...

would you book there or go to one of the others hotels? Don't really know what to do? Any advice?

We will go first week of may; me, husband, 9yo boy, 7yo girl and 18 months baby girl. We love to go play in the pools at Disneyworld! First time in California.:beach:

Since you are going in May, I would advise you to stay in one of the other hotels this time. DL Hotel is my favorite of all 3, but the pool area is a mess. We were there in November and we were disappointed with our view and stay for that particular trip. If you are going and not planning on using the pool at all and pay for a Downtown Disney view (so not looking over he construction zone at the pool), then the disneyland hotel would be fine.

They still have the Neverland Pool open right now, but there is so much construction going on around it that the experience just isn't good when using it. No one was in it when we were there, and the weather was actually okay--it was due to lots of loud machinery and construction near it.

Lisa, I have to agree, I would be very unhappy if I paid for a view upgrade and saw all that construction! We are huge DLH fans, its actually my favorite Disney hotel in either DL or WDW and maybe that is the problem, I love it so much and its so special to me that its not easy to have my special place looking so torn up! It will be beautiful for sure and our plan is to stay there in October 2012. But I would not stay there now, I'd probably go with PPH since my kids love that slide and I love the way the rooms are a bit lighter and brighter like the DLH rooms are. We wanted to stay there in January but didn't, I am so glad. I love to look at the pictures but no way would I want to listen to that and see that. We did go over to look at all the work being done and even my dd who was crushed not to stay there was like "good call mom".

Those slide pictures look encouraging but I'd be very hesitant to stay there before late summer.
