skiing

Oops...corrected it in my original post but here is the website again.

If you want to find a ski vacation that really works for you I would seriously suggest doing the same kind of legwork you should do for a Disney vacation when you don't have a clue...

Go out to google and start plugging in your requirements. If you have a long enough window (like vacation 2007) try looking for ski shows or for ski clubs. This website is great and all but not the best source for finding a ski vacation that is affordable.

For southeasterners there is a ski council down here. I didn't look into skiing this year but I did last year to figure out the best bet for me and in hopes of finding a club with a lodge (no luck).

Oh...for the person looking to avoid driving...I think Park City has a selection of mountains nearby and if you are staying in the city there is some availability of hotel transfers. Again...gotta do that research.

We lived and skied in Montana for 10 years. Absolutely beautiful. Big Sky , outside of Bozeman is very family orientated. I really love Bridger Bowl which is 10 miles north of Bozeman,MT. Bozeman has many nice places to stay. Big Mountain , just north of Whitefish, Mt is gorgeous too. All are friendly, not so crowded and great Mountain skiing. Probably much cheaper than Colorado. I have seen condos on Sky auction for WHitefish, MT.

I'm a little bias about Montana. Wonderful country. You can fly into any of those towns.
