Ski question for Denver area residents

Hi,

We're thinking of going skiing at Loveland and I have a few questions. The main reason we're considering Loveland is cost. Most of the other ski areas are much pricier. We usually go to Alta, Utah every year, but that trip is falling apart on us, so I was trying to look at possible alternatives.

1. How bad is ski traffic from Denver on the weekend? I've heard that it's bumper to bumper and REALLY bad.
2. Can you buy discount lift tickets anywhere? Way back when I used to live in the area many years ago, you could buy tickets at King Soopers. is that still true? If so, do you have to be a resident?
3. How is the snow this year? Unfortunately, the last few times we skied in CO the conditions were terrible! Ice and no snow. UT is much better. Sorry!

Any other recommendations or suggestions? I always get good advice from the DIS, so that's why I'm asking here!

Thanks!

I'm not a skier but I do live in Colorado, outside of Denver. Yes traffic on
I-70 up to the mountains on the weekends can be awful. I'm pretty sure King Soopers still sells discount tickets. The snow in the mountains has been wonderful this season. Denver hasn't gotten a lot of snow but the mountains have.

Hope that helps.

Have fun!

I ski occasionally, but I've never skiied at Loveland. I do know that it's pretty popular, though. The lift ticket prices are definitely less expensive there, especially when you buy them at King Soopers.

The mountains have received TONS of snow this year, so the skiing should be good.

The I-70 corridor traffic is horrible coming back down (east) on Sundays. If you can avoid leaving Loveland on a Sunday, I would do so.
