I just bought these over the weekend and wore them in my house for about 1/2 hour Sunday and yesterday to try to get used to them before I really go walking in them. I've found that the back of my legs feel like they've been stretched out but also, my knees really hurt! Did anyone else have this problem and does this go away? I wasn't sure if it was a good hurt-in that it's strengthening my knees or a bad hurt in that maybe I shouldn't be wearing these shoes.

My Mom bought a pair a couple of months ago and she said that the first few times she wore then she felt it in the backs of her legs (and she is really fit). She said it took a little while to get used to them but now she loves them. After her review I think I may buy a pair of the sandles as I am not really a running shoe person. She said once you get used to them they are really comfortable.

At first my legs and lower back really were aching, but now I love these shoes, I have had mine for a few months now. The guy at the store said you have to work up to wearing them, only a few mins everyday to start with.

Bought the knock-off Payless toning shoes last year. Initially liked them okay, but discovered that they did cause me knee pain after wearing them more than just a few hours. I figure that there is no such thing as GOOD knee pain... so I relegated those shoes to the "occasional around the house" pile... and eventually gave them to DD to wear for swim practice (they wear sneakers for drag). I WON'T be buying any more. I'm not going to risk damaging my knees.

Just chiming in........................P

I bought a pair of shape ups and I love them! I didn't buy them for the toning though. I just liked the fact that they are super cushy. I can walk all day in them without discomfort. It was weird the first time I put them on, but after wondering around in them for a while they were great. I don't notice any muscle burn while walking on a flat surface, but I do when I'm going up any kind of incline. I walk the same hill in my neighborhood all the time and when I wear regular walking shoes, no burn. Shape ups, big time burn!

I love my shape ups. They are super comfy. I'm on my feet alot at work and with these my feet don't feel achy by the end of the day. They have great support!

I had sore leg backs when I first got my Shape-Ups, too, and I still get it if I wear them a long time after not wearing them for a while. Haven't had knee pain, and I LOVE the Shape-Ups. I blister easily, so they're one of the few shoe types I can wear without cutting up my feet. I lost four pounds in them last fall without even trying; we go to Halloween Horror Nights and Howl-O-Scream almost every night of the events, so I wore my Shape-Ups and they did their thing.

I lucked into a Shape-Ups style, Dr. Scholl's brand shoe at DSW (LOVE that store) this winter on clearance, plus I had a coupon...only $15, so I bought them to try them out.

At first, I realy could feel it in my calves. By forcing you to stand forward and more on the balls of your feet, it was like doing heel-raises. Even after wearing them just a bit, I really felt like I was getting a little extra workout. I couldn't "feel" anything in my butt though, so I didn't get that out of it like they advertise in the commercials. Now that I've worn them for three months or so, I don't feel that initial mini-burn anymore.

Something weird -- on longer walks, I began getting a little headache. It happened several times and only when I wore these shoes, so I began to wonder if they were the cause. It doesn't happen now that I'm used to them, but I wonder if...because the heel is "missing"...I was pounding the ground too hard and jarring myself. I started to pay attention to how I was walking and adjusted my stride...again, not sitting back on my heels, walking more forward and more smoothly. The shoes haven't given me a headache since. :lmao:

Overall, I don't know if they're doing any good at shaping-me-up. I've always had "cheerleader calves" anyway. But they are really super-comfortable, and I do think my posture is better, standing taller, etc.
