Has anyone seen teens riding skateboards at resorts? Is there a policy against them by any chance? Our Disney week is part of a two-week vacation, so my teen's skateboard and 8-year-old's scooter will be with us in the van. I want to be prepared if they need to be off limits while we're at WDW.

I do believe they are not allowed on the paths of the resorts.

I don't believe they are allowed at the resorts or on pathways and the such. I am sure it is a liability issue...smjj

a few years back my son 13 at the time took his skate
my daughter 10 at the time had her scooter. We stayed
at the fort wilderness cabins, they just rode around our
loop .we had no problem

They are not allowed to be ridden on walkways and roads. Ask at the front desk when you check-in, there *might* be someplace they can ride them..

Frankly the walkways are WAY too congested for kids to safely ride on them. I got hit by some kid riding a scooter at the GF a few years ago--he knocked right into me, knocking me and him over.

It's a safety issue. Besides, with so many other things to do at WDW, they can surely live without them during your trip...

Not allowed on roadways or parking lots by Florida law. Paths and walkways would be up to Disney.

The kids will probably be so busy that they won't miss them during that part of your trip!

If it were me, I'd call Ft wilderness & find out their policy. I know bikes are fine. I'd tell the kids it wasn't allowed, but you could always take them over there for a bit if they have to get it out of their systems!

I was just reading about CS and the 2003 issue of WDW with Kids says on page 77

"The resort is quite spread out....bring strollers for little ones and rent bikes for the older kids or have them bring their in-line skates."

Probably not the rule at all resorts but by this books standards skates seem ok at CS. jmo

When we checked into the Wilderness Lodge in January, in their Silver Creek Star (a newsletter of sorts listing various resort info) it stated:

In-Line Skating and Scooters
Florida law does not permit in-line skating on roadways or parking lots. Please see a Resort Recreation Cast Member for information concerning appropriate in-line skating, skateboards and scooters, as well as locations.
