Are they both DCL excursions? If so, and there's not enough time to do both, the website won't allow you book both. Typically DCL requires at least 2 hours between the end of one excursion and the start of the next to allow you to book two excursions in one day.

How long are you in port that day? Do you know the times of the excursions?

You can do the train ride through Chilikoot Charters, they have a train up/van down or van up/train down option which shortens the excursion. Skagway is a long port time so if you plan it right you should be able to do both, gold mining is relatively short I think.
