Hi ~ I might be in the mood to make a significant purchase for scrapbooking.

I can either buy the Sizzix die press for about $80 US and dies as I need/want them.

Or

I can buy the circles and ovals cutting system from CM, about $55 US.

Which would you pick? S

I just bought the CM cutting system myself and I really like it. :D

I don't have the CM Cutting System - although it looks cool. But I do have the sizzix and am having lots of fun with it. Just got to be careful cuz it's easy to go overboard with all the cool dies. And storage is something to take into consideration too.

Get the CM cutting system! I say this for several reasons,
1. It is really nice
2.very portable the sizzix isn't
3. more sizes you get 3 with the inside cut and 3 sizes with the outside cut
4. cheaper
5. they are adding shapes to the cutting system so you can expand
6. more percise cutting you can see where you are cutting, with the sizzix it would be very had to cut a picture with the sizzix

Those are just my personal reasons. I am looking into either getting a sizzix or a quikcutz but for the alphabets.

I have the CM cutting system and I couldn't scrap without it. I have had other circle cutters, but this one is awesome- precise cuts, you can do 6 sizes with each template, very easy to figure out which template to use with each picture. I have the circle, oval, I just bought celestial (star and flower/sun) and I earned the jazzy (pentagon, hexagon and large oval)....I recommend them to anyone.

If you have read some of my other posts, I am dying to get a Sizzix, but I want that for letters, die cuts, etc....not to cut pictures with.

I think they are two very different things. The CM cutting system is a basic tool that you will use all the time.

The Sizzix looks really cool & fun, but it's more of an add on. It's a big investment, not so much for the machine, but for the dies. If you really want die cuts now, buy them precut until you are ready for another big purchase. :)

If you rarely use ovals or circles and don't miss them (& have another way to cut them) then maybe the sizzix would be better for you, though.

Having both, I find I could not live without the CM set. I feel it is easy to use and I could not live without it. I actually find that all my CM products are the easiest to use.
Have fun!!
Sandy

I also have both and I would definitely recommend starting with the CM cutting system. You have more variety and choices with circles and ovals. I don't have any circles or ovals for my sizzix, but I think it would be very difficult to crop a picture with it. Plus with the cutting system, you can get the wavy/straight piece for borders, etc.

I use my sizzix for letters and for die cuts that I know I can get a lot of use out of (hearts, baby stuff, etc.). It is wonderful and they are coming out with more fonts for the machine.

The previous poster was right on. The CM cutting system will become an everyday tool. The sizzix is more of an extra accessory.
