Size of table for dinner?

I understand the dinner tables are for 4, 6 or 8. Do we request what size we want? or is it randomly assigned? And if we request - is it more fun to sit with other people? I have older kids and I don't know how they would feel having dinner with really little kids. I work with little kids and I think it would be fun - but...I only get one vote here.

You can request a table for 4 if you want, you may not get it but you could try. I personally hate sitting with others for dinner so I request a private table. Last cruise we were a party of 3 and got our own table and this time we are a party of 4 and I am hoping for another private table.

We had second seating. We requested a larger table as we enjoy meeting new people. We ended up at a table for seven, with two other adults.

Wendy and Doreen were wonderful tablemates. Having them with us is one of the nicest things Disney did. It also had the advantage of motaviting my kids to practice thier table manners.

We have 9 in our group plus 1 high chair...we requested to all be together...do you think that is possible????

We shared a table with another family of 5. So we had a table for 10. Wow! I can add. lol
Our table was ok but the other family was kinda private and keep to themself. But everyone eas kind to each other and spoke some. We will talk to anyone but we really felt like the other family had no ideal that they may have to share a table.
This time there will be 6 in our party we are hoping for our on table. The kids said they would like it better just being us.

Thanks so much for the info!! I feel better knowing we should all be together. Hope you enjoy your next cruise....what am I saying...of course you will!

Call Disney or your travel agent and put in a request for a private table, you may get it then.

We also had a table for ten, but one family of four only showed up for three meals I think.

klineyqueen ~ We had 11 in our group and we all sat together. It was a HUGE table. Just make sure you have it noted in your reservations. If you aren't all together when you get to the restaurant just ask your servers and they will try their best to accomodate you. You'll find that they'll go out of there way to make sure everyone is happy.

This may seem like a dumb question, but what happens if we decide NOT to go to an assigned restaurant one or two nights?? Should we call that restaurant and let them know we're not going to be there that night, so that if we're seated with other people, they're not kept waiting??

I've read on other threads where the guests have been left sitting for awhile before they could order.. I wouldn't want to sit for 1/2 hour waiting to order and then find out the other guests are not even coming to dinner that night. When I sit down and look at a menu, I expect to place my order within minutes, not 1/2 hour, and I wouldn't want anyone else to have to wait because we decided not to go that night.. Am I making any sense??
Thanks!!

There are tables for 4, 8, 10 and 14. I think there might be tables that seat 6, but not sure.

My family is not to outgoing, but one of the most pleasant parts of the cruise is meeting other people. I know that it is risky business, but you can sure make some new friends. We were at the table for 14 once - 5 different families (4 families of 3 and one couple). It was fun getting to know everyone. We tried sitting next to different people each evening. We all did different things through the day and we shared our experiences - what a great time!! Like someone else has shared, dinning with others lets us ALL practice our manners.

If you know before hand that you won't be attending a dinner (ie Palo ressies) let your wait staff know the night before. And if for some other reason you won't be attending dinner, they do appreciate it if you let them know.

I called our TA a while back and requested a private table for my family. She said that Disney will try to accomodate our request. They also asked the ages of my kids because if we do get seated with another family, it'll be with someone with the same age group. We are off in our land/sea in 2 days!!
