Here is a poll about the size of SSR. Looking forward to the results and the thoughts on this. Should get a boatboatboat load of opinions on this one.

Huh? Where's the poll?

larger resorts spread static overhead over more rooms, reducing cost per unit.

SSR was built for the bottom line of DVC.

Turn down the pool temps........

Build mega DVC's.

we ain't seen nuttin yet..............

Dave, I didn't vote on this. It is hard for me to say because it is not done yet! Iknow that one can extrapolate from the completed sections of the resort, but I think there are other factors. For me, no resort is "too big" as long as there are plenty of amenities to go with the size. For instance, if the new phase had another theme pool and a small playground, food counter, plenty of bus stops, etc. I don't think it would affect my opinion of the overall resort. If the new section has nothing to add to the resort, then yes I would say they had crossed the line and the strain on the facilities would become too great. BTW....I don't think this will happen. Dr. Tomorrow and others have posted hints and rumors of pools, eateries and other things to come at SSR. Let's let them finish it before we condemn it aye? :sunny:

The people who dont want to be close to the main pool?
What about the people who love long walks or simply dont mind if it takes a few extra steps to DTD.
What about those who love to be in back and just relax?
You know with all the people in the world I bet theres a few who love SSR just like me. :cool1:

LMAO at 3 people saying 'to small".

They are probably the same people who think the BWV hallways are too short and that the BCV has too many beach view rooms.

Dave and B3, I understand your point about SSR's size and the 7 month booking window, so in THAT sense SSR is too big (compared to the other resorts). But as a single DVC resort (where I plan to spend most of my vacations) I think the size is perfect. The different areas of the resort will lead to vastly different vacation experiences: villas on the fairway, villas overlooking DTD, villas on small and medium sized lakes, villas near the High Rock Spring pool, villas near the leisure pools, etc.

So, I voted for "a little too big" for the combination of the two statements above.

I have enjoyed your posts (after I adjusted frame of mind from "who are these idiots" to "that's funny"). Thanks for the poll, although this one's a little hard to get any concrete information from.

Voted okay as is, but I would prefer to see it fully built out and occupied to get a better sense of the scale. If OKW is any basis to draw a preliminary conclusion then the size should not be a problem. There is plenty of land for the footprint of the resort and the old DI institute gives them a tremendous infrastructure to bring online when the guest levels are higher.

Since I haven't stayed there yet, I didn't vote. It would be nice to have another option to vote - Don't know, haven't stayed there yet.

I know walking down the hall at BCV made BCV seem too big to me. And my gelatto had melted by time I walked back to my room from the Marketplace. Not to mention the 30 minute stroll I had walking to the Yacht Club and back (just to see it).

I think it needs to be bigger. I'd like to see it acquire the Treehouse Villas and offer those as well. As was previously stated, more units spreads the static costs across more points and lowers my recurring costs while still giving me great accomodations.

I don't care if the pool temp is turned down, I'm from New England. It's still warmer than the Atlantic Ocean in August!

More units also equates to more opportunities to get to know more people.:thumbsup2

I'm with you on this one.

I voted a little too big. I think they could have not built the other 6 bldgs.

The 2 by the Paddock and the guard kiosk, ok. But the other 4 seem way out in left field to me for some reason.

Of course this is just by looking at them on the map. Once I actually see it in person I may change my mind.

But I think if they didn't add those 6 bldgs it would have been better.

I wonder how many of the people who have responded to this poll actually own at SSR.

We do. I think SSR will be just fine. I like the idea of the resort being spread out. If we want close, we can just request the Springs or Congress Park. You don't hear so many people complaining about the size of OKW.

That is a wetlands area and I believe they are precluded from developing it any further. I heard somewhere that the treehouses are used as housing for certain groups of CMs -- like the foreign visiting workers at Epcot and the college students on the internship programs.

I see nothing but sunshine coming down on my DVC!
I predict that in the near future you'll see the foliage
mature into an awe inspiring feel of upstate NY!
For those who've never seen Autumn in NY(no pun
intended)...just wait!
Slow and easy will win the race @ Saratoga Springs!
Horse and Buggy rides...stables?...perhaps a restaurant
off the bridge from The Springs to The Paddocks?
There's a bit of room for additions for eateries and creature
comforts yet to be enjoyed!
I happen to believe Saratoga Springs is going to be envy
of DVC resorts...I wouldn't have bought there if I didn't
have faith in it! No one has to buy SSR...there are other
choices(resorts) offered.
One thing I'd like to see change...the addition of our own dock
area for the use of sailboats, Water Mice etc. & take the governors
off of those Mice! Must go faster!!!
:thumbsup2 SSR is a winner!

How did you manage to adjust your frame of mind? I can't get past the idiot part!:rotfl2:
