Hi All,
Can anybody provide me with the size of the refrig, for those who need it to store insulin and other transplant drugs? Trying to figure if we need to haul one down. Thanks a bunch
Annie:confused:

I've never rented one before, but if it's like the one that was in our room at the Poly it's very small, about the size of two twelve packs on top of each other. That's the only thing I could think of to compare it to.LOL:o

Hi, annieh6!

There seem to be several different size refrigerators available. The ones that people pay to rent are the size of dorm fridges with a small freezer. At Pop Century, the one for medication was smaller than that with no freezer and had plenty of room for medications, but wouldn't have held milk or juice of more than a few cans of pop or bottled water. I've also heard people say that there are shoebox size ones just big enough for medication and nothing else.

Hope this helps!

We rented a fridge at CBR and POFQ and they were both the same size.........small dorm size, 2 shelves and small freezer on top. I am sure that meds would fit just fine. BUT BE CAREFUL! We had the temp set at what we thought to be a average setting and froze all of our food in the fridge section. We turned it down and had no more problems. I don't know how that would effect your meds but thought you should know.
Have fun!!

Hi Annieh6!
I have had refridgerators at CBR, CR, POR, and the Poly for meds and breastmilk. All of them have been dorm sized. (plenty big enough for any meds!) Hope this helps!:Pinkbounc

Thanks to all for your help. A shoebox is probably too small, as we need emergency drinks if there is a blood sugar crash. I guess we will haul ours (were trying to avoid this due to space).

hi annie...i had one for medical reasons at pop century and mine held milk and had a freezer so their must be several different sizes.....if you tell them it is specifically for insulin only then they are gonna give you the smallest one they can...they dont wanna give you one that your gonna fill with food...if you catch my drift.....

If you need a Fridge for insulin and such then one of the resort's fridges should be fine! Plus since it's for medical purpose it's free of charge. If it doesn't seem to accomodate then you might be able to work something out with the resort where they might be able to store the excess for you, if not worse comes to worse then you could rent one. The cost generally runs $10 a night plus tax. But honestly I believe that a medical fridge will do for what you need! It's just another option that you have! pirate:

Thanks so much for the help. We are honestly just trying to avoid taking our dorm size refrig as it takes up a bunch of luggage space. We do need something close to a dorm size, as he has a huge assortment of drugs due to his transplant , and the insulin as well as energy drinks (high in sugar) and diabetes appropriate snacks to keep in it overnight for emergencies. If it were just for insulin we could handle a tiny one. Do we need to call the POP to check what size we will have? If it costs, we can just haul our own!
Thanks to all!:sunny:

Hi KIS,

we had a refrig at the Swan and it was like the one Minniesotaluvsmickey described as small dorm size - two shelves, but plenty of room for beer , sodas, snacks etc. for us.

It fitted neatly under the sink unit and plugged in near the hair dryer.

Alec

I would call so they can note on your reservations what size it is you need, but I'm sure they will be able to help you out and save you the trouble of bringing your own.

We also needed the fridge for medicine at the Swan. Small one fits right under the sink unit. No charge.
