Moderate resort rooms seem to be 314 square feet.
I am trying to figure our how large each piece of funiture is in the moderate room.

I used graph paper and came up with a diagram of 13' by 24 ' (312 sq ft)
for a moderate room.

I made the beds to be 6' by 6' (double size).
The tub/toilet area to be 7' by 6'.
The bathroom sink/counter to be 5' by 2'.
The closet area to be 2' by 6'.
The dresser/tv cabinet to be 4' by 2'.
I allowed the table and each of the 2 chairs each to take up 2' by 2' area.

How accurate are my above measurements ?

We are considering POFQ or CSR - bith 314 sq ft.

Thanks to any engineer minded people on this site. :goodvibes

OMG! It is way to early to read a post like this. I have no idea how big each piece of furniture is, but I can tell you i stayed at POFQ and there was plenty of room. 3 adults and 1 kids and a 1 toddler. We had a port a crib and we managed just fine :goodvibes

How many folks are you trying to fit into a room? I actually find the room/resort photo thread very helpful. It gives a great idea of exactly how much extra space is available, and how the furniture is sited.

I stayed at the POR a couple of years ago. I thought that the room size was fine, my problem was that I found the double beds to be too small. I don't think I would stay at a moderate again with a family of four. However, friends of our stayed at the POR last year - they did not share our views regarding the bed size. I guess I just like to have more space when I sleep.

I'm sorry, I always forget to take my tape measure when I go to disneyworld. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: (please don't take that wrong, I'm just being funny).

There is plenty of room in the moderates. There is a big space between the bed and the window. There is plenty of room where the table and chairs are.

Now, don't forget to add in the fridge and bench. Those are on the wall between the tv cabinet and the "closet". The fridge is no more than 2'X2' maybe 18"X18". The bench is about 3'X18". Actually I have no clue, sorry. I couldn't tell you if a tree were 50' for 100' or 15' for that matter. I actually have no clue how long a mile is. (now if we switched over the metric system like the rest of the world, then I'd probably be able to LOGICALLY figure out how tall a tree is or how far 1.5 KM is).

There is not much room size difference between a mod and a value.

Here is the layout of a mod.
The bathroom is about the same size as the All Stars but you will have 2 sinks instead of one.

The mod has 54 square feet more than the value.
That means if both the mod and the value room were 27 feet long than the mod would be 2 feet wider. Just enough room for a double sink instead of a single.

There is not a lot of room size difference.

You can check out my pictures of CBR below. There are a few pictures from inside the room on there. CBR has the largest rooms of all the moderates, but I don't believe that there is that great of difference. Our mod room was big enough for our family of four.

Minnie 61650-- Sorry to hear about Tabby.

Most mods have plenty of room when we went it seemed that the size of the rooms isnt that much different.

Ive stayed at CSR, "Dixie Landings" and CBR and we were happy with the size of all the rooms. With that being said, we LOVED the extra room at CBR and could definitely tell a difference. If you want a large room at a Mod, I would suggest requesting a corner room at CBR.

We have no problem with the room size at CSR. Usually three of us. Check out pics on my CSR website below. We've also put a roll-a-way bed in between the full size beds.

I agree that the moderate resort rooms don't feel too small at all. When I've stayed at CBR, we once had a roll away bed and it fit perfectly between the first bed in the room when you enter from the doorway, and the wall that the doorway is on.

CBR rooms are a little larger than the other moderate rooms, so I'm not sure if a roll away would fit in that same area in them or not. But as Buzz just showed, a roll away could fit between the 2 main beds in the moderate rooms.

The other moderate resort I've stayed at is Port Orleans Riverside and the room was very nice, it didn't feel cramped at all. (I have pictures of CBR and POR {as well as other Disney resorts} on my web site, the link is below in my signature). :)

Thank you to all.
We need to stay at a WDW resort to have the dining plan.
We love the Dolphin - but will try CSR or POFQ (most likely CSR - Casita's - best bus stop at CSR)

The CBR rooms are a little bigger than the other mods. It is 340 sq. feet.

We usually stay at a Delux resort because I love the extra space and balcany. However, this past June, we decided to save some money and stay at POR. Because I had never stayed there before, I was a little skeptical on the size because we are a family of 4. When we got to our room, I was really surprised by how much room we had. We never at once felt cramped, but the only down fall I had was that I wasn't able to sit out on a balcany and drink my coffee. Oh well, that won't keep me from staying at another mod :goodvibes

We stayed at both CSR & POR on our last trip. It was the first time we had stayed at a moderate. I was a deluxe girl all the way. I was surprised at the size of the rooms & how comfortable they were for all of us.

AT POR we even had a roll away that we put between the bed & the door. We would fold it up during the day.

I'd have no problem staying at a mod again. BTW - CSR has a great pool - probably one of the best on property, IMO. It is spacious & not cramped. You have a lot of room to spread out.

I felt the same way before we tried the mods & we are a family of 5. We wanted to stay at the same place as my brother, who had a military rate at POR.

We also enjoyed the amenities at the mods.

I'd love it if they were bigger, but they're fine. They'll do.

I've never measured the beds or tables, lol, but if you go in knowing that they are smaller than Deluxe rooms, you should be OK.

And I love that pull-curtain thingy, dunno what it is called. :)

We've stayed at two mods, the CBR in 2003 and the CSR in 2005.

In 2003 at the CBR we got one room for the four of us (Dad, Mom, DS 10 and DD 7). We felt a bit cramped and our kids (who have their own rooms at home) did not share a bed well. We thought about a cot but that would have take up even more space. The lack of space/kids having to share a bed was the biggest mistake we made on that trip (using Mears Transport was the other but that is another story).

At the CSR in 2005 we got ajoining rooms and our lives were so much better! The two rooms worked quite well for us and our kids (then 12 & 9) got their own beds which made our vacation much less stressful. Yeah it cost us dollar-wise but it was worth it.

We are going back next year when the kids will be 15 & 12, one room in a mod is not an option for us.
