Sixt rental , good prices!

Just as an FYI, Sixt does put at least 2x, but up to 3x, the amount of your rental on hold when you pick up the car. I've found cheaper rates with National and Budget, who only hold the amount of your rental. For a minivan rental in August, they would have put a $900 hold for a $300 rental. Yes, I'll get the money back, but in how long? I found it hidden in the fine print on their website, and called the MCO location to ask. Sticking with National.

Yuck. Good to know! Thank you.

We rented from Sixt in Miami in March. We had the same skepticism and the one in Miami had some bad reviews from a while ago about them claiming the gas was not full and a few other things. However, it seemed that things had improved.

We will rent from them again, especially now that they are in Orlando. We rented about 4-5 weeks out a Camaro convertible for $90 total--for 5 days. We were next in line. The Alamo "people" line was easily 30-45 minutes long and there was a line for the kiosks. Budget and National were the same. Sometimes my time is worth money--especially on vacation when I've already had a flight delay.

It's a well-kept secret so far. As far as the hold, nothing appeared on our credit cards. No big deal.

If you find a deal you cannot pass up, they are a fine company--just German, so we are less familiar. They are plenty popular in Europe. We think they are just working in a more European manner and have found that these same policies do not work as well in the US.

Good luck.

Sign up for Alamo Insiders or Budget Fst Break (both FREE) and you will not wait in line. At Alamo use the Kiosk... never seen at line at one. At Budget go straight to the garage and get the car keys. I visit MCO often and have never waited for a car using these two. And if you use best codes usually come in cheaper than Sixt.

You might have a Camaro or a Mustang or a Chrysler. They don't guarantee any specific brand of car, in fact no rental agency does.

Thank you.

My experience was Miami, not Orlando, I realize. We have the preferred cards for Alamo and Budget too. We mostly use Alamo at MCO. However, we were able to rent a convertible (car decided at airport) for a far lower price than our standard car (or whatever DH had) at Alamo. AND there was no line. In Miami, there was a line for the kiosks--and there were far more than MCO has. Budget had a line too. I had my jaw on the floor because I could not believe the people.

That was our experience with Sixt. Good price and a good customer experience. It's an unknown company with some strange small print. I wanted to say we had a good experience.
