Six people showing up for an ADR for four?

Anybody ever showed up for their TS ADR with extra people?? Will they accomodate them?? We have all our ADRs made for myself DW DD4 DD2, and now my in-laws want to join us for the week. My DDs can both easily sit in high chairs at the ends of the tables, do you think I'll have any problems with this?

They may or they may not - discretion of the hostess. I'd say your chances of being accomodated would be slim at Le Cellier or Teppanyaki or any Princess meal, but decent at Jiko, Marrakesh, or Flying Fish.

Great.. I just added a person to our package now I need to call and add her to ALL of our dining ADRs.. Didnt even think of that.. Guess I will be spending my afternoon on the phone with dining..lol

They will not sit six at a table designed for four. Either the tables are too close together or it will block an aisle.

The only time you will not have a problem with more people is going from an odd number up one to an even number. For example, there is no such thing as a table for three; three are seated at a table designed for four people, etc.

The only possible exception to this is if your reservation is right at opening or very late, then they may be able to give you a table for six.

I don't know about two extra people, but one time we showed up with six instead of five that were reserved, and they said it was no problem (this was at Narcoossees). It would probably be harder to accomodate two more people into a table that was reserved for four, but there was an exception to be made, it would definitly be at Disney!!

We booked a table for six and got seated at a table for four, the restaurant just pushed the chairs closer together as there were three children at the table. We were all upset and requested a table which was sized for six: we did get the proper table but only after waiting an additional ten minutes.

1) If the restaurant is busy, don't count on it.
2) If there is room, then the CM might allow it.
3) I would try to make a new ADR ressie. *


* If you try to add people to an existing ressie, you must make a NEW ressie. ressies cannot be change once they are in the system. If the CM tries, it would cancel the previous ressie. This is because many times there is not a table available for six, so a guest will make a ressie for four, then try to sneak in the additional people. This stops the practice.

It is totally at the discretion of the CM doing seating and/or restaurant manager. The issues are table availability and total number of people seated at the restaurant (fire codes).

Your best move is to re-make your ADRs for 6. THen there will be no issues. However, try to make the ADR for 6 before you cancel the one for 4. Call and ask if you can change (actually make a new ressie) from 4 to 6, but if they can't do that, keep the ressie for 4. You/the concierge desk at the hotel can continue to try to increase the head count even after you arrive at WDW. If you have a ressie that you want, don't give it up until you get the increased number!

Your best chance of increasing the number of guests at the table being ok at the podium would be very early (right after they start serving dinner) or very late (when the restaurant would be less crowded).

Just an FYI...

I tried to get an ADR for Le Cellier for this Sept. and was told that even though DD is in a highchair (she's 2), we are considered a party of 5, not 'four and a highchair.' They don't have room for us. I was told if we split up, we could have our choice of times basically, but as a "large" party, we were out of luck, unless I wanted an 8:50pm seating.

I just don't want you to assume they can or will squeeze in a highchair or two for you at the end of a table---I was assuming the same thing when I guess I shouldn't have.

I just added my DGD to my reservations for Sept. Our party went from 3 to 4. I called Disney dining and they were able to change most of our reservations to 4 but we were at a table for 3 at Cinderella's Castle so I had to make a new reservation for that one. Don't assume parties of 3 will always be at a table for 4.

Just spoke to a CM on this topic, and her advice was to show up 15 min early and the CM seater should be able to accomodate us, we may have to wait a few minutes though. Could not re-book as everything in the time slot I requested was booked full.

They may or may not be able to. Not all tables for four have enough space at the end(s) of the table to fit high chairs. If you chance it an just show up with more people you might be in for a long wait to be seated as they would need to reconfigure to fix a party of six. I would recommend you see about modifing your ADRs to accomodate your new party size.

HI - I added my DD (23yo) to our September "free dining" trip about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I then had to change my ADR's to include her. I was able to change Kona Cafe, Concourse Steakhouse and Maya Grill with no problem or change of time. However, the 6:30 pm LeCellier seating had to be changed to 7:50pm since we went from 2 people to 3. I was told I could show up about 20 minutes early at LeCellier and if there was an empty table we may be seated early. I'm planning on showing up half an hour early and just keeping my fingers crossed for an earlier seating - don't want to miss Illuminations.

I showed up for lunch at CRT with 3 people instead of the 2 that my ADR was for. I had tried to change the reservation with disney dining but there was no availability, so I decided to show up with the extra person and just see what happened. It was no problem! And this was at CRT! Maybe I got lucky, but I think the CM's will try to accommodate you. Good luck!

The restaurants here at home (nowhere near WDW tho) will not put highchairs at the ends of tables anymore, they have to be where a chair would normally be. I don't know if it's fire codes or what, but just be aware of that also, just in case. Our boys were seated the same way at WDW last year, not on the ends, but we were a party of 4 so that may be why.

You keep bumping so I thought I would address your question and comment one more time.

If you have an ADR for 4 and show up with 6 be prepared not to be able to get a table. This doesn't mean that you definately won't get a table but there are lots of factors that play into getting one.

1. What restaurant are you planning on trying this at if it is something like Cindy's at the Castle, LeCellier definately won't work anytime.

2. What time of year are you going busy time of year your chances are slim.

3. If they have had a number of no shows and can accomodate you.

If you decide to do this based on the CM's suggestion just remember that you could call 3 more times and get different advice. The CM's at the call center don't always know what really goes on. Just prepare yourself for being turned away. If taking the chance doesn't bother you then I say go for it.
