OP--Since you enjoyed Great Escape, and want to go back to the area, it might be worthwhile to keep half an eye on the Great Escape Lodge. They have specials such as stay one night at the lodge, get free park admission, that kind of thing. We used to live ~30 minutes away, this package was a popular choice for birthdays. If you were spending a few days in the area, you could do one night at the lodge, then a night or two somewhere cheaper.
