Six Flags New England

Since this has become a discussion of Six Flags, I am moving to our CB. Thank you.

I loved Six Flags New England back when it was still Riverside Park! Still didn't compare to Disney, but my friends and I always had fun. Visited once after it became Six Flags and it just wasn't the same. Liked the Superman coaster, though...

We went to SFNE on Father's Day and the day after I got a phone call from them because I had agreed to take a survey. When the employee was asking me why I rated certain things pretty low on their scale I finally just had to say, "Here's the thing. We're a Disney family. We go every year. The only way I can respond to the 'How do we improve it?' question is to tell you to do it like Disney".

I went to Six Flags New England with my DIL and grandson for one day, and I could not wait to get out of there. I am also a Disney lover and it was disappointing to say the least. I wish to never go there again. 56 days till the next Disney trip and I can harldy wait.:woohoo:

We're actually going to Six Flags in Agawam tomorrow, but my Disney vacation is already booked and paid for...I can't wait for September! :thumbsup2

I can handle this Six Flags for about 5 hours, then I start dreading going on the next ride!

I hate to say it, but I think it was nicer when it was Riverside!

I hate the fact you have to pay to use their 'fastpass" units! What a rip off!:headache:

It's kind of funny. We live a couple miles away from Six Flags NE and have not gone even once this year! My two DS's (19 and 21) haven't gone either. We have been to WDW in January, June and upcoming...this October! Why spend money on something that we really don't enjoy....we love all things disney!

I agree with others, I liked it much better as Riverside. I have no desire to ever go to Six Flags. It's not Disney and it will never compare so I don't bother. I can't do all the upside down and turny rides so it limits what I can go on.

I loved Riverside! I grew up in Windsor Locks and live in Suffield. We have been twice since it is SFNE and I hate it! My DH thinks kids should go to amusement parks so we ended up getting season passes for us and my DGD, but I think it was a waste.

It is expensive, the food is not great for a lot of money, locker rental if you want one is expensive, parking is high. And it is not Riverside.

I know that a one day pass into Disney is more money and I know that a Disney vaation can be expensive but Holy Moly! When you look at what you get for you money, compare the attractions, the food choices adn the cost once you are inside the park there is no comparison. Last year my DH, a softee when it comes to Kady and her little friend, said yes to the games. :scared1:, rented a locker for their bathing suits etc :scared1: and bought them food and snacks all day. Now I am the meanie so I would never have done that but at Disney there are no games to tease the kids, you can bring food or snacks in if you choose, locker rentals will not make your heart skip a beat adn there are plenty of choices for meals.

My younger daughter earns a free ticket with a reading program at her school, so I feel like I have to go every year so she can use her free ticket. If the free ticket program ends (or when she finishes elementary school) we won't be going to Six Flags anymore. I guess that means I have 5 more times at most that I have to go there.

We used to go to SFNE once a year, maybe more often. The last trips were not good. We used to buy their "fast pass" system when it was called Qbot or something like that. It wasn't too bad. Then they changed it to two different levels, not worth it. The last visit was the worst! We had to wait in a long line, took over half an hour just to get into the room to get the forms to get the pass thing! We had never waited like that before, but this time all guests were being forced to watch the instructional video. We already knew how to use it (but we didn't go there often enough to get yet another pass that would allow us to skip the instructional video) So we had to wait until the room was packed, we were given some directions, and then we had to watch the video. Then we went into another room to actually pay for the pass. It seem to take forever, perhaps it didn't but it did feel that way. It just wasn't worth it! We used the pass for Superman and few other rides, but there was still lots of waiting around for either the time to arrive to use the pass, or just waiting in line for secondary rides. Last time we went Superman wasn't working.

We miss the Saturday night racing at Riverside.

Have not been to SFNE since.

Rather go to the Big E in the fall. :thumbsup2

Grew up in West Springfield, left in 84 to join the Coast Guard, have only been back a handful of times as my parents retired to florida....is the big yellow slide still at the Big E? Can you still by clam fritters in the state building (forget which one, Rhode Island maybe??) Growing up riverside was the bomb! Mountain Park was the getto park.. Man...thanks for the memories, I must get back for a Big E someday....

That slide is still there :thumbsup2

My DH would bring his cousins and then he brought my kids and my neices and nephews every Saturday. The are all adults now but still talk about those nights at "the park"

We used to get all of the kids Season passes and took them all with us. We were trying to tell Kady what is was like when her Mom was her age and would ride the Thunderbolt. It is still there but not running. I loved that coaster!

Yes the ThunderBolt!!! that was great, I remember them building the "Loop" and was totally "Wowed" by it...LOL

I loved the Loop! I also liked the Wildcat :thumbsup2

We always said we would not buy dinner there but my DH would smell the chicken BBQ and it was a done deal :lmao:

I grew up around here (and am still a CT resident) and it sounds like we had pretty similar memories of our childhood's.

I remember (and still get to see) the big yellow slide every year, and I remember the clam fritters, too (though I haven't seen 'em in awhile...though I haven't looked either..but I will this year!).

I, too, remember Moutain Park, and the Mt. Tom Alpine Slide. Alas, both are no more and have been closed for quite awhile (Moutain Park closed in the late 80's, the Mt. Tom ski area closed in the mid/late 90's)....Sad, really. The Mountain Park site is about to reopen (in August) as an ampitheater. I might see if there's anyone decent playing there, just so I can return and revisit the old site...
