When we visit DLR this June we're planning on a day at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Any tips/tricks for how to tour the park? Are there certain rides we should get to early (like X2 or Terminator: Salvation) or later in the day? Does the entire park open with the gates or does the park open in phases?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Ahhh, SFMM. It has been almost 20 years for me since I have been there but went a lot as a teen.

As a cautionary note be more aware of your surroundings at SFMM. They have had issues with gang violence there. My BIL is in SoCal law enforcement and is very wary of SFMM. It has great coasters and I am not trying to scare you away. Just telling you that it is not Disney.

As for the rides, I remember when Revolution was new! Can't help much more than that. :)

I've heard a bit about the more unsavory elements through other amusement park forums/blogs. Still, many of those same forums have mentioned how the park has turned around somewhat in recent years. The newer management regime (lead by the now-former CEO Mark Shapiro) spoke often of making a specific effort to improve the guest experience at SFMM, to make it safer, cleaner, and more family-friendly. Having never been we really won't have a frame of reference to know if they have succeeded lately.

We've been to parks all over the country, so we're prepared for one that might be a little more "rough" clientele-wise. I've heard a lot of horror stories about SFMM, so I'm managing my expectations accordingly. At the same time, Magic Mountain has its place in theme park history, not to mention perhaps the most television and movie appearances of any non-Disney park, that we'd hate to miss out on a visit.

:goodvibes I went to Magic Mountain in late May 2008 for our 1st time and saw no issues with gangs or thugs. The worst thing I saw was this body builder type of guy that thought he was all that and was making comments on people not neccisarily in shape eating pizza but that was just rude!

We plan on going next week! I just worry about school fields trips making it crowded next week....:confused3:scared1:

Any and all tips are appreciated. We're just trying to do as much as we can at the park without having to resort to FlashPass.
