Two days before Christmas I went out for my run. Came home and my foot was hurting terribly. Got into the doc yesterday and discovered that I have seriously pulled a ligament. Option one is to race, knowing that if I tear it I'll have to have surgery -- and tearing it is a pretty likely outcome. Option 2 is to cancel the trip and forget the half marathon. So this morning I canceled my ressies and I'll be staying home. And that's just sitting with me like crud on toast.
I keep telling myself I've been lucky. I've done a couple of Goofy's, fulls, and other races at Disney and elsewhere and never had to pull out. This is my first pull out for any reason, but it still hurts.
I wish everyone here well, but I'll be home feeling sorry for myself.

You wouldn't have enjoyed the race as much if you were constantly worrying about your foot and whether you could safely finish. FWIW, I think you made the right decision and the Disney races will be around next year
I know the disappointment is painful, much more so than the injury! Take care of your foot and get better.
