We are in the process of looking for a travel trailer for our upcoming trip to Disney in Oct. Hubby plans on fixing it up really nice and adding a nice big tv and putting up our satilite dish. So that means we dont need a perferred site. what are the best non perferred sites for a family with a 2 year old? We want something walking distance to the petting zoo and beach but far enough away from the crowd.. is that even possible? Also we wont have a gof cart, so is it easier to be near a bus stop or the boat stop?

We have stayed in site 601. It was full hook up, across the street from the bus stop, an easy walk to the marina and petting zoo. It is also next to the sing a long movie they show every night. The pool and Meadows trading post is also next to the movie. I loved the 601 site because the older kids could run over to the movie and if the 2 year old fell asleep during the movie, I could easily carry her home without breaking my back or the same for the boat coming back from the Magic Kingdom, the bus would let us off in front of our camper! She is now 3 and loves to camp. As a matter of fact, we will be putting our travel trailer up for sale soon and upgrade to a fifth wheel because we camp at Ft. Wilderness for about 6 weeks each summer!

I was going to suggest the same loop! We stayed in 618 and the spot was perfect. I hope you are bringing a stroller. You can easily walk from the marina to this loop, but after a day at the MK, your 2 yo may be tired.

On my latest trip, a 5 yo girl fell asleep on the boat from the MK and she was with her Grandparents. Since I had my stroller with me and my 3 year old was awake, I let them put her in my stroller to get to the bus stop. It can feel like a long walk even to the bus stop after a long day if you are NOT carrying a sleeping child. A stroller can make a big difference.

I wouldn't rely on the sat. dish to work at FW. We have tried ours a couple of times (with a completely free standing dish so we can move it around). There are too many trees to get a signal; some people have gotten lucky and gotten a signal but it depends on your site #. Now of course after 3 hurricanes, the trees may be thinned out enough.

Also, they do not allow swimming at the beach so unless you just wanted boat access, I wouldn't pick the loops closest to the beach. In fact, we will not use their beach again except for boat parade and fireworks viewing. My kids just get too cranking being that close to water and not allowed to play in it. The loops near the pool and campfire are wonderful. We stayed in loop 1000 last May and it was very easy to walk or ride bikes to the trading post, pool and campfire.

Have a great trip!

We have been twice since the hurricanes and both times were able to get reception for the satellite. In Oct we were in the 1700 loop and December we were in the 1800 loop. A lot of the trees are thinned out now due to the storms.
