I don't think I've ever seen the movie - but I saw the play in London. Now that was a little odd.

Did we win our independence or did they rewrite history?

What was their interpretation for the play? Was it, "Oh, those deluded Americans, thinking they could stage a revolution?" "The vote only got passed because that one guy at the end didn't want to be remembered."

I took my parents to London over 4th of July about 15 years ago. I couldn't believe all the references to the 4th (special menus even at my office in London) - I guess it was all for the American tourists. But it just seemed strange to be "celebrating" the 4th of July in London.

It does seem ironic.

Same story - but I remember that the actors had really bad American accents. This was decades ago. I don't think they could get away with that with today's audiences. Even the British would notice.

When you think of it, the bill on Independence almost got completely voted down because of Adams' stand on slavery. I love when Franklin said, "First things first John. Secure independence and the rest will take care of itself. Without it, all the rest doesn't matter a d***."

234 years later, we have our first black president!

I wonder if John Adams ever thought this era would actually come when he said:"Is Anybody There?"
