Sit down! Buckle up! & Hang On! Mickeystoontown's Gang is going to Walley World! 5/15

Have Mercy! I missed a bunch of folks when I posted replies! I'm sorry!

Don't worry about us, we'll keep. :goodvibes ::yes::

Pictures!! Pictures!! I'd love to see the little dresses. :)

And thank you, thank you, thank you for getting our backsack done as fast as you did. Can't wait to see it!!! :goodvibes
I know you have a lot on your plate (sewing orders and all), especially with your trip coming up!! :cool1:

I know!!! Dang it!! :headache:
Y'all need to do that next year. That way you'll get to see F&GF and if you keep going during that time of May, we might get to run into one another one of these years!!! :woohoo:
So, I'm curious, are you leaving your hair longer for the trip, or are you going to cut it short again? You look great either way, but I really love your shorter sassy hair that you had at the parks last year. :thumbsup2

I'm planning on getting another sassy haircut before we go. I'm always on the fence with my hair....do I want it long or do I want it short? My hair has a natural wavy/curl to it and it's much easier to keep when it is short. But, with those cute little hairclips that Lacey is making, I keep thinking maybe I need to keep it long and use the clips.

My grandkids also hold their breaths when we go through a tunnel. I don't think my kids ever did so not sure where they learned it. We plan to drive for our trip in Nov. We drove out to Delaware a couple years ago and really enjoyed it so we are trying again. And since we are both retired now we can take it slow and see some country on the way. I wish it wasn't quite so far though. We actually drove down one year with my kids when they were 6, 11, and 12 and they were so good on such a long trip. My mom came with us and wanted to stop for a drink at one point, but since the kids were being so good she didn't say anything. LOL

I love love love road trips! When we were kids, my parents took us on short trips to neighboring States and I loved it.

I laughed about your mother wanting to stop and get a drink. :lmao:

I don't think i would like a road trip that long but, i can hardly stand the 2 1/2 drive to the airport. Then again, you don't have to fly i hate it and its a 9-10 hour flight then another hour drive to get into disney. I hope you don't see any snakes they creep me out.

Some folks just don't like long road trips. My sister and my boss are like that. If they have to drive more than an hour, they are beat.

You will Love POFQ! Just watch where you are going near the fountain in the Lobby! LOL, I may have told this before but my sister backed up taking a pic there and went right in! Broke the camera and everything. She wasn't too happy about us laughing at her after it happened but she eventually came around. :rotfl2:

Wow! I hadn't heard of the bug infestation, I feel the way about bugs almost the same way that you feel about snakes :scared1:

Oh my gosh! Right into the fountain? That's so something that would happen to me. :rotfl:

I'm not sure what happened with the bug story or if it was blown out of proportions or what but I didn't want to take a chance on seeing roaches in our room. I'm not scared of bugs at all but I dont' want 'em on my "stuff".

I thought of you today when I saw this....

Port Orleans French Quarter Refurb

I hope it's only the check-in that is being refurbed and not the restaurant because we plan on eating there at least once.

I read about the refurb too. I think that it's only the check-in area. I hope it's not the restaurant too. If so, we'll walk over to Riverside to eat, I guess.

Joining in, I always enjoy your trip reports. I always honk my horn in tunnels, maybe it is a Louisiana thing. :)

Welcome! I didn't mean to miss you earlier! I guess we Louisiana folks are the only ones who honk the horns in tunnels? :confused3

Yaaaayyyy!!!!!! Another Mickeystoontown!!!! Ha...I suddenly just realized I'm now following y'alls PTR, and the TR of FantasylandMom....I need to start finding the rest of MK :rotfl2::lmao:

Maaan.....I was so hoping y'all would stay at POR. It's my favorite moderate. Just the mansions and the grounds and the fountains....it makes a southern girl very happy. We've stayed there many times, and NEVER had problems with roaches. Never even seen one. But POFQ is a very close second, even with the giant creepy masks in the food court. I am totally advocating you guys staying longer there, but that's just me.

I don't know if we honk the horn when we drive through tunnels. I'm generally trying to hold my breath, which means that my dad is usually slowing down as much as he can to make it difficult, which leads to me kicking his seat and glaring. Obviously, my family is equally strange.

:scared1: with those snakes!!! Warn a sistah next time...I jumped about 3 feet, even if it was just a picture. Those make me glad we take I-95. Though we do have Cafe Risque at exit 70. They're topless topless topless!! I don't know why, but their signs always list it 3 times. Because, you know, just one topless doesn't do the trick.

Welcome! I didn't mean to miss you earlier. I missed a whole page!

Hopefully, we'll get a feel for the Port Orleans resorts so we can decide whether or not to stay there longer in the future.

Your daddy sounds really funny! I can see us doing that just to make our kids hold their breath longer.

Weren't those snakes something else? I really don't think that those snakes would be on the highway leading to Disney. They look like something that would be found in South America.

I giggled at the topless! topless! topless! I think that they caught everybody's attention with just one topless. :rotfl:

Lisa, you have one of the most "interesting" rides I have ever seen to Disney.

I love the new outfits you made...very cute.

Kathy, I gotta find something interesting to see during an 800 mile drive. :crazy2:

Dont look now but there's a creepy guy looking at you!

After traveling through the snake and alligator infested roadways from Louisiana to Florida, well arrive in Walt Disney World! Im not sure what time well arrive but Im thinking 5 p.m.ish. We are all very excited to be staying at Port Orleans French Quarter even if it is for just one night. Being that we are from Louisiana, I have always wondered if the Port Orleans resorts, especially Riverside, would feel too much like home. I dont know about yall but when Im on vacation, I want to stay somewhere thats nothing like what we can see every day. Even though we are Louisiana residents, we dont get down to New Orleans a lot so I think that well enjoy the Mardi Gras atmosphere that French Quarter has to offer.

Like I said, well probably get to French Quarter 5'ish and Im sure that well be ready for dinner. First, well have to check in. Thanks to the new 60 day before you arrive online check-in option, I checked us in some time ago. (Pics borrowed from allearsnet)

Hopefully, the check-in line will be as empty as it is in this picture:

After getting our room assignment, well set out to find our room. From what Ive read, the rooms were recently redone and are quite pretty:

Because we are only staying one night, we wont be unpacking so well unload just what we need from the SCAR, freshen up a tad and then decide if we want to go to the French Quarter food court or take the boat to Downtown Disney. Im thinking that well just go with the food court. I think that the decor in the food court looks really neat and presents the Mardi Gras theme well. Creepy guys and all!

We may end the day with an order of beignets or we might not. We were talking about beignets a couple of nights ago. I know that they are considered a delicacy and a Louisiana staple but I can live with em or live without em. It's well known in my house, that if I'm alive and eating, I'll drop something on me...happens every time....when I eat beignets (or funnel cakes), I end up looking a little something like this:

Powdered-Sugar-War-1.jpg

But, since well be in the French Quarter, or at least Disneys cleaned up version of the French Quarter, we may split a couple of orders just to cap off the night.

**Up next: Look out hammock, Im headed your way!

Hello fellow Louisianan! I'm from below New Orleans! I've never considered staying at one of the Port Orleans resorts, excited to see what you think of it!

POFQ is one resort I have walked around some. Last February I went to the food court for beignets with my friend Jennifer when she stopped by (and it is cool looking, but creepy too!). Then Steve and I walked around it a bit in December. I saw a lot of what you posted pictures of. It is a gorgeous resort and I hope you get to explore it some before you move over to CBR the next day. :goodvibes

I remember that you went there. Right now, the plan is to explore the French Quarter a bit more then next morning before we change resorts.

Those photos of FQ are getting me even more excited for my summer vacation. Though we will be staying in POR Royal Room per the girls' request. ;) that is for the mother/daughter trip in August. Staying POP with the boys with a final night at Beach Club to enjoy the pool/resort in July.

At least you have lots to look at on your drive across. Our drive down consists of a few corn fields, spattered with a few bean fields-at least until we get to TN. And I think I drove in a back way the last time, because we came across the Toll road and really didn't get to see anything exciting. We entered near AKL and drove over to Coronado.

I am very excited for you to have a new resort to try out. Can't wait to hear what you think-even if you only have the one day. Take the long walk down to Riverside, though. Very pretty!

Like you, i always manage to drop things on myslef while eating, however i don't usually end up like him! :rotfl:

We had beignets a few times on our trip. I thought meh, but maybe thats because i don't love having my food covered in powdered sugar.

I think the food court was very creepy and i didn't like it, but to each their own. I don't like giant people heads staring down at me for some odd reason :lmao:

POFQ is a small footprint and will not take long to see. I like the POR food court for more choices the set up at the main building is more spread out. and you must stop by the lounge for the show. The boat ride to DTD is a must. Above all relax and have fun. The walk along the river to POR is left about 5 min.

Well Lisa, another Louisianian joining in. That weather was horrible today. Was not excited to work under glass windows today!!! Excited to hear more about your trip and to read back on your TRs!

Thanks for the POFQ pictures...got me excited for our trip in Nov. In fact I got our airline tickets today and we decided to add a day so now it is 8 nights because it was cheaper to fly Fri after Thanskgiving instead of Sat.....yeah love that Disney Math!!!!!!! Still hoping for some kind of discount from Disney!

Very interested to see how you like POFQ. We tossed that resort around a little for our next trip! Not gonna lie, all those creepy clown guys... we put those in the CONS column!

1,200 miles :faint:! Are ya'll driving straight through or breaking it up?

Well, originally we were going to drive straight through. My DBF has driven to Boise, Idaho and back from Illinois before with only 2 drivers and he said it would be "no big deal." :faint:

So, I thought it WAS a big deal and was trying to figure out what to do when I got a letter in the mail about my Hilton Honors program saying that I had 26,000+ points that were about to expire. So, I told the DBF that I had the points and that we should stop on the way down so he could see some sights in Atlanta, GA. (He always talks about wanting to visit there and I have been there before so I found a nice Hilton just outside of the big city). Its about 10 hours to get there from where we live in IL, and we have done that long of a drive before no problem.

We are, however, driving straight through on the way back...I have somewhere to be June 10th so we didn't have time to stop then!

Haha all the comments about those "creepy clown guys". Those are just a way of life down here! Farther south you get the more you see them!

That's the Fountain!! The one my sister fell in. She was taking a pic of some of under those coins above the door.

I really like POFQ, I wanted to stay there or CBR in 2011 but I let DH pick and he chose Riverside. Maybe next time.
