Sisterhood of the Traveling Sausage! Update 10/12 Final Meal!

Things I never thought I would say to another woman:

#738 I love you and your sausage.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Sooooo glad to have read this and I must pop in at the MOA to see you and we must get a Holiday Minnesota meet for December cooking...with a few cheesehead exceptions of course! :worship:

Definitely pop in to the MoA! I work at American Girl so we could even grab some dolls and eat there! :lmao: You'd have to ask for me though because I'm in the office in the back. And would definitely love a MN/WI foodie get together! Did you by any chance see the Dole Whip at the State Fair? I sure did!!:thumbsup2

Great reviews so far! We went to Wizarding World of Harry Potter a couple years ago and loved it! We still have the butter beer mugs that you can get with the drink in it. It was crazy busy when we went however and we didnt get to see a lot of the insides of the shops and there was no way we were getting into the three broomsticks to eat ;) But we'll go back one day and I'm glad you had fun there, its such a magical place, hehe!

We also thought about getting the mug but by that time we knew we probably wouldn't have any room in our suitcases! At least I knew that we'd be going back in January and I'm sure my daughter will want one. We really did have a great time there and I can't wait for another butterbeer! Glad you had fun too!

I'm going to go out of order here a little bit because I lost my lunch photos! I know I have them, I just need to find them. :sad2:

We'd gotten back from Universal around 1:30 and after our lunch at Three Broomsticks we were still hungry so we went to Roaring Fork for lunch and I'll post that soon.

We weren't going to a Disney park this day so after lunch I think we took a nap as we usually do! Then we decided to take the bus to Downtown Disney for dinner. I knew that we wanted to try Wolfgang Puck Express and I also knew there were two of them and one had a better menu than the other. I realized that I didn't know which one of them was the better WPE so I sent a message to my friend Nancy who googled it for me. She said that the one in the Marketplace was the better one. So we figured that we'd start walking and just see it. And of course...we missed it. :confused3 Once we reached Raglan Road we knew that we must have passed it so we consulted a map. Sure enough it was WAY back by the spot where we came in. We were about halfway between the two WPEs. It was blazing hot and we were on the verge of getting hangry. We knew we wanted to do some shopping so we decided to just head to the other WPE and take our chances.

:worship::worship: This was a great decision. I ordered the Meatball & Parmesan pizza.

Oh Em Gee!!!!! This pizza was incredible! I'm sure that the meatball pizza at the other location is just as good but I'm coming back to this one next time to get this. I'm in love with it! The meatballs were like your mom's/grandma's homemade meatballs and the meat was moist and flavorful. Just the perfect amount of cheesiness and what I think was some lovely pesto. The only downfall was that I couldn't finish it! I tried sooooo hard to finish it but this pizza was huge. I'm not sure why but it was bigger than my sister's margherita pizza.

Notice how her pizza fits nicely on the plate and mine hangs over the edges. But trust me, this is a good problem to have. She liked her pizza as well but she said that it was "fine". In hindsight I now know that it was because she was just about to come down with a monster cold. Unless the margherita pizza just isn't as good as the meatball pizza! They used to have a WPE in the Mall of America and it just closed. :guilty: I don't even know if they had the meatball pizza there but now I'm kicking myself in the butt for not knowing that. Actually I probably would have needed a major diet if I'd have tried it there. Things happen for a reason I guess!

We also had carrot cake and a cookie for dessert. (sorry, can't find that photo even though I know I took it). After trying unsuccessfully to stuff as much pizza into my belly as possible I knew that I wouldn't want much carrot cake but we decided to try it anyway. Ok, we did more than try it, we ate the entire piece! :rotfl2: It was wonderful!! The cake had the best carrot flavor and cream cheesy frosting. YUM!!

I have to give out yet another 3 sausage rating! No bonus Aaron Rodgers here but a strong 3 sausages and I'll definitely go back to the wrong WPE again!

We went to the Wolfgang Pucks other restaurant last time we were there and we loved it. They had this awesome snickers cheesecake. After looking at your pizza pictures we might try out this one next time. My hubbys a big pizza fan! :goodvibes

Now I might have to try the other Wolfgang Puck to try the Snickers cheesecake! You'd think that they both have equally great food right? I think there might be a meatball pizza on that menu too. If there is I may try just to get a better dessert selection!

This is going back in time a little, before we ate at WPE. I couldn't find the photo of our lunch at Roaring Fork but I have located it!

After we got back from Universal we were still hungry because we basically ate a side of salad and a butterbeer. Not nearly enough for us after we'd been stuffing ourselves for the past few days! :rotfl: So we went right to Roaring Fork and we saw a cheese flatbread that looked pretty good and we decided to split it.

This looks yummy doesn't it? Well, it wasnt. It was just so-so at best because the sauce just wasn't that good. It had a strange flavor. So after our meal at Three Broomsticks turned out to be not so good, now our flatbread wasn't very good either. At least Wolfgang Puck Express restored our faith in humanity later on that evening! (see previous page for that as I'm going out of order!) :lmao:

While the flatbread was not good, this fluffy sweetie pie was very good!!

I'd originally wanted the carrot cake cupcake and there was only one left. In the 2.5 seconds that it took me to ask my sister if she wanted that, someone else grabbed it! :scared1: So we went with the white cupcake instead. I can't believe that it had taken us this many days to eat a cupcake!! It was fresh and moist and the frosting was just right. I thought the frosting was going to be that whipped creamy frosting that I don't like but it wasn't. Very good. So while the flatbread receives only one sausage,

The cupcake deserves at least 2.

Next up breakfast at Kona!

I was so excited for our Kona breakfast reservations. I.Love.Breakfast. It's my favorite meal and I could eat breafast foods for breakfast (of course), lunch and dinner! So we were up early and this time the monorail was not our enemy! :) Our reservation was for 8:25 and we got there about 8 am but they took us right to our table when we checked in. Our server was Pat and I immediately loved her. She was like the server at your local diner, friendly and talkative and very helpful when explaining menu items. It was great to see someone with so much happiness and energy so early in the morning and she was genuine, not a faky nice!

I got the lilikoi juice which is a blend of orange, passion fruit and guava. I liked it but it was a bit sweet. Of course I finished it though!

I'd read in the dining reviews here that if you order the Big Kahuna (pancakes, french toast, eggs, potatoes and lots of meat), you don't get the same macadamia nut pancake batter that you'd get if you ordered the actual Macadamia Nut Pineapple Pancakes and that made my decision for me. I couldn't go for the Big Kahuna (even though I wanted all of the stuff that comes with it!), I had to go for the true order of pancakes to get the whole experience.

You can see the poor bacon hiding in the background. It must have seen the "come to mama" look on my face as I was looking at those pancakes! I'm glad that I chose the order of macadamia pancakes because the batter had big crunchy pieces of macadamia nuts in them. On top of the pancakes was a pineapple sauce and then macadamia nut butter. These were amazing! I think I only managed to eat about half of these but that is standard for me if I eat pancakes so I think I did pretty well considering they had lots of extras!

My sister had the coffee blend rather than the pressed pot because she thought the pressed pot might be too strong (Pat made sure to tell us what the difference was) and she said the blend was some of the best coffee she's had. I didn't get a picture of coffee though! For her meal she ordered the Samoan -

I now wish I'd gotten a photo of the inside of this because it's so interesting! And a good interesting, not a bad interesting! This is like eggs benedict except the bread is mixed into some pulled pork hash and Pat told us all about the watercress with a light dressing that tops this dish. She said "I know that when it comes out you're going to look like this :scared1:" (she kind of made that face too!) "but just try the watercress and the hash together and see what you think of it." So Diane gave it a shot and she said that "she was right, it really works well together!". I tasted it and for a split second, I almost wished that I'd ordered that too. But I was happy with my pancakes!

I'm going to give this meal yet another...3 sausage rating!

We would absolutely go back to Kona!
Next up - The Wave for dinner!

I've loved your review! So awsome and great pics- thank you! I wish i had done Kona breakfast instead of dinner based on your pics!

I do NOT like rosemary either. Glad I'm not the only one. That meatball pizza @ WPE looks awesome! I have 2 Qs does it have an ashy sorta burnt crust? Not sure I like brick oven pizza. I had it @ an organic pizza shop & it was ashy. & Is the WPE pizzas big enough to split w/ my hub? [knowing him he'll want his own anyways]~Thanks!

Great Kona review :goodvibes

The pancakes look delicious :cloud9:

Shame about the flatbread at RF, we ordered the same when we were last there and it was really good

Oh yum, I love that Samoan. I will be at Kona for breakfast in a little less than 3 weeks, and I can't wait!!

Add me to those who also get "hangry", and I too LOVE that term. I am going to teach it to my husband so he'll understand when I get that way ;) I did give him a lecture on a Disney trip a couple of years ago that basically can be summed up as "Mama doesn't like to miss meals!" He's got the gist, but I love that HANGRY can be used as a one word warning system!!:rotfl:

Great reviews. I'm looking forward to more!

Isn't the WPE meatball pizza the best? I had that last year and gave DH a slice and he wanted to trade his Margherita for mine. :lmao: You know what he's getting next time we are at WPE. ;) I enjoyed reading your Kona breakfast experience. I keep thinking that I need to add Kona breakfast somewhere along our trip.

Hey, from one Wisconsinite working in MN to another, I am greatly enjoying your review. I was so bummed when someone recently told me that WPE closed in MoA. I always ate there when I was at the mall. I also second the recent recommendation of Mythos at Universal. This past summer I ordered a kids meal just so I would have room for the fabulous banana, peanut butter, chocolate dessert. It is SO GOOD! Of course my family (who ordered regular meals) still wanted to eat some of my dessert! Being a mom, I shared but it really was suppose to be all mine. Mythos is always a must do for us all whenever we are visiting Universal. Three broomsticks, on the other hand, fun to see but yucky food. And no diet coke! Thanks again for the great review.

The Roaring Forks flatbread looks a whole lot like the pizza we got at the Beach Club Marketplace on our last day. It's funny because I had really low expectations, considering the Marketplace kitchen is tucked behind the t-shirt and magnet displays, so I was pleasantly surprised.

The Kona review is great! I have to say that the servers are one of the most magical things at WDW; without exception all of ours were outstanding and it makes such a difference when you're on vacation. Pat sounds like a gem!

Thank you! I'd recommend Kona in a heartbeat! PS - I laughed when I read in your review that you slacked off in your first few meals. We did the same thing, we were just so excited to eat that I'd just dig in and forget the photos. I had to turn some of the dishes around so you wouldn't see the bites taken out of them!:rotfl:

I wouldn'ts ay that the crust was burnt at all but I think it did have a little of the floury type ash on it but nothing major at all or I would have remembered (and not liked) that. I think the meatball pizza is big enough to share - especially if you eat the carrot cake afterwards!

Great Kona review :goodvibes

I'm not sure what happened to the flatbread. The sauce tasted very concentrated or something. Maybe it's not normally like that and we hit a batch of sauce that wasn't mixed enough or something? I like RF though, it's very cozy!

I have to say that if you're going to stop that hangry feeling before it gets too bad, Disney is a great place to do it (unless you're on a tour and can't stop anywhere!) :lmao: That way you get to try things like Dole Whips and rice krispie bars and caramel corn, etc!! But if you don't catch it soon enough, it's bad! Enjoy Kona and the Samoan - that's what I'm having next time!!

It really is the best! I'm only going to be there for two days on our next trip and I don't know how I can fit all of my favorite restaurants into two days!:confused3

A fellow cheesehead!! I hope you especially like the Aaron Rodgers cameos in the review! :cool1: Do you have to make reservations for Mythos? I'm positive that we'll end up doing Three Broomsticks for lunch and then Mythos for dinner because of the rave reviews it's been getting. Thanks for following along!

I couldn't agree more! The great service is what really sets WDW apart from other destinations. Pat really was a gem! :thumbsup2

Great reviews! Everybody raves about the macadamia nut pancakes at Kona but I just cant get past the fact that it has pineapple on it. I just dont think it would good with syrup  Maybe one day I will try it but probably not any time soon.
