Sisterhood of the Traveling Sausage! Update 10/12 Final Meal!

I can't wait for your trip! I totally understand the "hangry" situation. Unfortunately for my DH I get this hangry feeling without warning on many occasions :rotfl:

Great rating system too!

Let's get started!

We are back and I've discovered that no one is home right now. Since I have to head back to work tomorrow morning I decided that it's a good time to download some photos and start this dining review! :cool1: I've also decided to change the name of this thread because of my rating system (as I've posted previously) and because the sausage took the trip with us!

I remembered to take photos of nearly everything...but most of the time it was after we'd already started eating! Oops! Our trip was amazing - it seemed like everything fell into place like the bus was always just waiting for us and we rarely had to wait in lines and the food was (mostly) delicious. I can't tell if I'm just easy to please or if our meals were just that good. I hope I don't sound like I'm just painting a rosy picture but we really did have some 3 Sausage meals! We also had a few not so great items but for the most part we enjoyed the food.

I realized while downloading the photos that you might begin to wonder if these were photos from a past college spring break extravaganza or if I was celebrating my 21st birthday. :drinking1 But I can assure you that neither of these are even close! I rarely have drinks at home other than an occasional glass of wine or a cocktail when I'm out to dinner but something came over me at Disney. Whenever I looked at the drink menus I couldn't control myself! :rotfl2:

Before I start the proper review, I just had to say that I needed to do a little training before this trip. I couldn't think of anything better than the MN State Fair!! And it was there that I put in some serious food workouts. I worked hard on these items:

A Breakfast Lollipop - sausage patty covered in cornbread batter with syrup on top.

A Spamburger! Needs no explanation!

Breaded, Deep Fried, Cream Cheese filled Pickle Coins!! With a side of Ranch of course!

And finally, sweet corn ice cream!

I cannot confirm or deny that there were other items eaten at the fair. :rolleyes1 But it helped me to prepare my stomach for the big event...my Disney Dining Review! Stay tuned for our first day which includes Raglan Road!

Raglan Road

We arrived at Wilderness Lodge around 2:30 in the afternoon and we had reservations at Raglan Road at 4 pm and Cirque du Soleil at 6 pm. When we checked in the CM said "You can take what we have available now, or you could wait a little bit and I can get you a nicer room with a better view". I'll be honest and say that my sister and I are not "view" people because we just don't spend much time in our room. But when it was offered...of course we said we'd wait! :lmao: Well, we waited. And waited. And finally at about 3:15 we hadn't received a text so we decided to take the bus to Downtown Disney and we'd get our room after La Nouba. Of course we got the text as soon as we were walking towards the bus! We arrived at Raglan Road precisely at 4 pm, right on time! It wasn't very busy at 4 pm so we were seated immediately.

Jason was our server and he was great. He was fun and I think that he could tell that my sister and I were chatting with each other so he was attentive but not too much. To start off, we ordered some drinks (this may have been my sister's first and only drink with dinner. But not mine!). I had the
Jay'Gail Sangria which was cider, peach schnapps, fruit liqueurs and squeezes. What exactly are squeezes? And my sister had a Brooklyn Summer Ale.

For my entree I had the Bangers & Booze.

Guiness and onion sausages on mashed potatoes with carmelized onions on top, and beef stew on top of that! This was a good first meal. The potatoes were real and not too dry, the beef in the stew was very tender and the stew was very flavorful. I didn't care for the sausages because they had a strong pepper flavor and pepper isn't my favorite. But if you like pepper you'll really like these sausages. But the rest of the dish gets a big thumbs up from me! :thumbsup2 Jason noticed that the sausages were still on my plate and asked if everything was ok or if I just "wasn't feelin it". I told him it was great but the sausages weren't my favorite and that was ok because I needed room for dessert!

My sister Diane had Fish & Chips

She said that the breading was a little bit bland but that it was nice and crispy and the fish was tender. The chips were standard good chips!

For dessert I had the Ger's Bread & Butter Pudding

This was lovely and it was huge! I felt like I kept eating and eating but didn't make a dent in it. I felt that the bread was a little bit dry so I mostly ate from the middle, where I'd poured the butter and caramel sauces. Mixed together, these two sauces were heavenly.

My sister had the Trifle Sinful

This was layers of baked swiss roll, Grand Marnier, berries, custard and cream and she loved this!

Overall the service was good, the timing of the meal was great and the food was really yummy, not amazing but very good! I would probably eat here again. This meal gets a solid...
2 Sausages

After Raglan Road, we went to see La Nouba. Does anyone else think that Cirque du Soleil is odd? It certainly keeps you busy and the performers are incredibly talented but I found myself thinking "what the heck??" a lot. Anyway, it was an experience and now I know what it's all about!

We got back to the hotel and proceeded to our "nicer room with a better view" and we found that the view was not nice at all! I wonder what we would have gotten if we'd have taken what was available right away? :lmao: But remember, we don't really care about the view so we were just fine with it! We were on the 5th floor and I kind of liked that.

When we checked in, the CM asked if we were celebrating anything and we'd told her that this was our do-over because our kids were not well behaved on the last trip and we left them at home this time! She laughed and said that she'd make sure we got a special treat to start our trip out right and when got to our room, this was waiting for us.

It was a lovely box of chocolates!! The box inside of the outer box is actually made of chocolate and there were various chocolates inside. We also got a card signed by CMs that wished us a magical stay. I loved WL from the second I stepped off of the Magical Express. Every CM we encountered throughout our stay was incredibly friendly and treated us like we were their favorite guests! Getting this box of chocolates set the tone for the rest of our trip!

What a great start to the trip! Can't wait for more. I think I'd feel exactly the same about Cirque du Soleil. Maybe they should Disneyfy it by adding characters to all the weirdness! :lmao:

Joining! popcorn:: Enjoyed reading about Ragland Road.
Disney Trip sans kids is awesome!

I can see Goofy up there on the tight rope! with his big shoes!:lmao:

Oooh count me in for this one popcorn::
Thanks! I'm glad to have you along!

Thank you! I agree that it's a whole different ballgame without the kids. It was all about us this time and was very fun!

Great start! :thumbsup2 Lol at getting some training in before your trip.

Yay on getting a room with a view and having some chocolate waiting for you after your first day. Your meal at Raglan Road sounds like fun :goodvibes

Count me in! I am glad to know that I'm not the only one who gets "hangry". ;)

:lmao: My thought exactly on Cirque. We saw Allegria which actually aside from being sort of strange was good and the cast was amazing. The crowd appreciated it so much (we don't get that type of entertainment out here in the wild west) and the cast seemed amazed at the reception and interacted with us a lot.
I saw another years ago but don't remember the name (in Vegas) and it was really odd.:scared1:

Thanks for joining me! I'd been dieting prior to the trip so I thought I'd better get my stomach back into shape! LOL!

Hooray and welcome back. Looking forward to more...................
Thanks chocolateMinnie! Le Cellier is coming up next! Hopefully I'll have some time to write some more tonight after work.

Count me in! I am glad to know that I'm not the only one who gets "hangry". ;)
Glad to have you! I think we managed our hangriness during the trip pretty well with only had one true hangry moment. It wasn't really our fault but I'll write all about it!

Exactly - the cast is so amazing!! But some of the sights are very strange. There was a little girl next to us that was about 2 or 3 at the most and she was quiet through the whole show because she had so much to look at. I was thankful for that!:lmao:

First Full Day

This was our first full day at WDW. We are not park hoppers so we chose Epcot for our first day! We knew we were going to be eating at Le Cellier at noon so we wanted enough of a breakfast that we wouldn't get hangry, but not such a big breakfast that we wouldn't be hungry at noon. So we decided to do a counter service meal at Roaring Fork. This was our first trip to WL and I was kind of surprised at how little the counter service area was! We'd gotten up pretty early so it wasn't very busy but I wondered if it would be packed later in the morning when all of the families with kids were up and running. However, this was never the case and we were usually in and out quickly!

This morning I had the pecan Mickey waffles with maple butter

These were great! I'm not sure what I expected. I think I expected the waffles to be cold or maybe dry but I loved them. I love butter and the maple butter was good but not overpowering. I also had a milk. I love milk but as you may have read, I'm lactose intolerant. So after breakfast, I promptly took a Lactaid-like pill so I wouldn't regret the milk once we got to Epcot. Sadly, I regretted it anyway and my stomach was gurgling shortly thereafter. Note to self...either don't drink a milk or take two of the Lactaid-like pills! Milk and ice cream are the worst for me and I knew that but did it anyway. :confused3

I also have a secret. Shhh...come closer so I can tell you and you must promise never to tell anyone else on the DISboards. I didn't hate the bacon. Yes, it is paper thin but I didn't mind it! Ok, now that you have been sworn to secrecy I can move on.

My sister had the breakfast croissant

She said that this was good, the croissant was flaky, the eggs were not dry and the ham was flavorful. If I remember correctly, she took off most of the croissant because she just does that but it wasn't becuase it was bad. She asked for no potatoes but got them anyway.

This gets a nice 2 Sausage Rating

Le Cellier

Sorry about the photo quality on the majority of my photos. I ended up using my phone most of the time because the camera wouldn't fit in my small purse.

We had a great morning and went on some rides, made a quick loop through the world showcase and then saw O Canada and we arrived at Le Cellier right at our scheduled time. We walked in, gave our names and were seated immediately. Our server was Kristen and she was excellent - friendly, attentive and fun! Her timing was perfect for every course - no long waits but the courses also didn't come out right on top of each other. I didn't have an alcoholic drink with lunch but I did have a Coke and it was sorely needed as it was getting hot out and Diane had iced tea. I did not get a photo of the pretzel bread because we devoured it as soon as she set it down! We were given two pretzel bread sticks and one wheat roll. She gave an explanation of what these two breads meant and she mentioned that the wheat roll was a symbol of where she was from. The pretzel bread was warm and fantastic and I put lots of butter on it but the wheat roll wasn't as good. But my sister said that we shouldn't insult the province where she's from and not eat the wheat roll so we ate it anyway!

I ordered the Mushroom Filet with cream cheese mashed potatoes

The filet was pure heaven in a bowl and I would have licked it clean if my sister would have let me (hey, it's dark in there anyway right??). I ordered mine medium and when it came out I thought it looked a little more pink that I'd wanted but it turned out to be perfect! When she set our steaks down I said to my sister "Don't they give us steak knives?" and there is a reason that they don't give them to you. Because you don't need them! They were so tender. The mashed potatoes were delicious and creamy.

Diane had the NY Strip

She too loved her meal and when we were most of the way through we realized that we hadn't uttered a word since our entrees were set down in front of us.

For dessert we both had the maple creme brulee but my photo is so blurry that I don't want to post it. But take my word for it, it was very good. Sadly I was a little too full to finish the entire dish of it but I came close!

We'd been waiting for this meal since we booked our ADRs six months ago. This was our must do and it didn't disappoint. Everything was perfect from having no wait, to our wonderful server to the amazing food.

I didn't want to score this too high so early on in our trip but it really deserved it.
So I'll give it a 3 Sausage rating as well as a bonus Aaron Rodgers!

Next up - a sad attempt at drinking around the world after a huge meal at Le Cellier!

I love LeCellier filet. I've been reading negative reviews but for a theme park steak, I think it's great!!!:thumbsup2 I also like the coolness of the restaurant which is great break from scorching heat.

I love your rating system, the sausage story is so funny. make me wish my sister and I were closer.

Loving your reviews so far, cant wait for more!

I'm glad you enjoyed your breakfast at WL! Have heard nothing but great reviews of Roaring Forks - may have to pay it a visit.

Sorry to hear that the milk didn't agree with the stomach - oh and your secret is safe with us on here!

Le Cellier looks and sounds fab - will have to take your word on the creme brulee ;) Love how it got an Aaron Rogers pic as well as the sausages!

I couldn't say anything negative about LC! I too was nervous after reading some negative reviews lately. I was so relieved when I found my meal to be fabulous!

Thanks! The sausage did end up making the trip with us and quite enjoyed it. :lmao:

Great so far!
Thanks for reading!

Thanks for keeping my secret! ;) This is my first review and I didn't realize how many pictures I'd have to sort through. Thank goodness I took a little notebook along to all of our meals or I never would have remembered all of this stuff! Can't wait to read yours too!
