Sister Wives, anyone???

I'm sure the neighbors would not want all the cameras on their street, so that gave the owner another reason for not selling, without being discriminatory.

I just cannot imagine saying goodnight to DH, knowing that he was going to another woman's bed. I don't think any of the sister wives really understand the personal relationship between a husband and wife. There is no room for a third party, nor a fourth, or fifth. I guess I feel that DH and I know things about each other that no one else does, and they can't have that.

Well, a double post is okay if the post is good -- and your's is! I agree completely with you. I cannot imagine saying goodnight to DH and having him go to another woman's bed. It's a male fantasy for sure. I do not honestly think it is a female fantasy by any stretch of the imagination and I do not know why women do it.

For the interim they should lease something in Vegas and then find some land and build their own little compound. They could set it up like on BIG LOVE where all their backyards meet. :thumbsup2

When they were looking at that 4 original homes in Vegas on that cul de sac, the broker said two of the homes are up front and the other two are in the back … I don't think that would work with the way they all love being together, running up and down the street all the time. Plus the neighbors would know what wife was 'entertaining' Kody that night as he galloped up and down the street. :upsidedow

:rotfl: Hahaha...I just got this visual of Kody running, at full speed, to another wife's house with that creepy grin plastered over his face and his hair flying everywhere. Thanks for the laugh! :rotfl:

:thumbsup2 Agreed. It's hard enough knowing that my ex, who I am friends with, is seeing other women; I can't imagine being part of an agreement where this occurs regularly and where children are involved! I agree about the privacy thing, too; it's like Kody and each of the wives each have 4 spouses! Who's to say there won't be more, either?

I've read that book C. Ann, it's really good. And in there (or another similiar book) they said that in the 60's (I believe) they did a huge prosecuting round-up if you will, but after they put all the husbands in jail the wives had no means of support and the state had to take care of them and it was too much financially. So now they turn a blind eye when they can because it would cost too much to prosecute.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to reading it sometime soon.. Right now - whenever I can grab a little free time - I'm reading two books about the history of the Adirondacks - more specifically, much of the area that my place is located in.. I finished the 1800 to 1930's book - now I'm starting the 1930's to 1990's.. Fascinating stuff, but I'm ashamed of myself for not knowing much of this information a long, long time ago - considering this is my 60th season here!! When things settle down a bit here - and I don't have so many other things to do - I'm hoping to get back into my non-stop reading mode..;)

There is something about him that gets to me too. Well, actually a lot of things about him get to me. But, there is something about when the wives are speaking the way he looks at them so intently - just the look on his face. Creepy. And, why in the world was he allowed in the room when the wife was having a colonoscopy?

I wondered the same thing - about the colonoscopy.. And there is definitely something scary lurking behind those eyes!

I'm really trying hard not to be too critical.. It's their belief system and as long as they're all consenting adults and they're not living off the system, it's really their own business how they choose to live their lives..

However, from what I can gather - in these types of marriages - the man is definitely supposed to be the head of the household and he is the one who has the final say on all decisions.. So...... Why is he so uninformed as to what they would be facing if they stayed put? Why is he not in contact with an attorney to find out - rather than going on something that happened many, many years ago - when one of his wives families was separated when it became known they were polygamists? As someone else stated earlier in this thread - when one such incident occured and the "husband" was jailed, all of the wives and the children had to be supported by the state (welfare), so the state decided they would be better off "looking the other way".. Wouldn't the same apply here? Or (and I really hate to say it), is Kody getting some kind of kick out of scaring his wives & kids half to death with this drama-filled "We'll all be separated and never, ever see each other again" junk?

And - what kind of "head of the household" waits until what - 8 days? - before they're scheduled to move to look for a place for them to live??

Hmm.. Now that I've typed that all out - and thought about it as I was typing it - I'm beginning to wonder if all of this "panic" and "drama" is nothing more than some kind of sick hoax on the part of Kody.. :confused3 Anyone else think that's a possibility?

I have to agree with you c ann , i think he gets a thrill from instiiling paranioa in the wives , i mean they keep saying that they see the cops driving by and they don't know what they are gonna do well... last i knew cops don't stalk you they go after you, and if they want you they will get you.

I think cody is a stupid creepy jerk that likes to collect women. lord help him if the wives wise up and they start divorcing him look at all that child support he'll have to scrape up.

The teens keep talking about being afraid they'll be separated and never see each other again. I'm not really following it b/c if the moms were in jail, I guess they would live w/ other family members but still see each other eventually. If the moms were not in jail, just Cody, wouldn't they all still live together anyway?

Bringing up that story from many years ago is not the same, b/c it is not the same decade. It's not like the kids will be sent to live in an orphanage.

The only one he can legally divorce is Meri and her dd is 16?
The other wives-he would have to get an annulment from his church, I suppose and the women would have to get him for child support.

Ok, I admit I haven't been watching this season, so this is just based on the posts I'm reading -- I think all the separation talk is being brought to the forefront to add drama, because that's what people watch for!

They have to keep adding something to make it interesting. I'm pretty sure they all actually know they're not about to be split up (at least the adults), and this is a way to try to make them 1)sympathetic and 2) a curiousity that people will tune in to watch.

I think he is just trying to extend his 15 minutes of fame. I think he knew exactly what the risks were and he is overdramatizing all of this for the show so that a. they can get sympathy and b. they can get ratings.

I would like to think that he has a higher goal of hoping to get the laws changed in Utah to help all polygamists not have to go through this, but I think if that were his goal he would stay put and fight any charges and make the most of "oh woe is us, look what the big bad government is doing to our beautiful family". I think he just knows that this is drama and TLC won't stick around without some drama to film. Isn't he in advertising? He knows the game.

It isn't even possible to close on a house in 8 days, especially since they are financing. We sold a house for CASH and it still took several weeks to close. The smart thing would be to rent a house or houses or ideally some apartments like I said before. It is just drama, drama, drama. And it is working! We are talking about it and I am still watching!:rolleyes1

Would you still be interested if we were just watching the kids go to school and do homework and chores, Christine making breakfast without a toaster, Janelle go to work, Robyn crying every few minutes, Meri studying, and Kody flipping his hair around with that creepy smile and kissing them all good night every episode? They all already got their requisite trip for alone time with him, there is no new baby for another 6 months or so, and they aren't nearly as interesting to see in their day to day lives as the Duggars.

:lmao: We were posting at the same time and said about the same thing! Great minds. . .:goodvibes

I agree that "the move", the telling of the children, the tearful search for a house in eight days, the threat of criminal prosection is all for the show.

Kody makes me sick because this is all done for the show. I wonder how things would be if there wasn't a show. Would he still create tearful drama by gathering the children around and telling them big news? I feel for these kids.

I think that they can't afford their lifestyle and cannot support it on their incomes so Kody came up with the show idea and pitched it to TLC hoping to be the next Kate Gosselin with book deals and dancing with the stars etc.

You made me laugh out loud! :rotfl2: I can just see Kody trying to dance, and it is cracking me up! That hair would be flying, and of course one week he would dance to some cheezy song, like "Torn Between 2 Lovers", or "Too Many Women".

Hey there, you! :)

I wondered the same thing about the houses.

Good to see you!!!!!

Wonder if a row of townhouses are the next step?

I heard the story of Christine's family.....have they ever been to visit? Are they still around? Wonder if I missed that part:confused3

Just watch, a book and book tour will be next....followed by DWTS

Kody thinks he is that marketable.

Yes, row houses would be the best.

It cracks me up watching him tear up about the "big move". Maybe if he spent more time thinking about how he is going to support all these kids etc. he wouldn't be in this situation. Yeah lets find housing for ?20 people and lets do it in eight days. Yeah I know...I'll buy four houses. Mmmmmkay.

I think that Kody and Janelle are the only two that were working. Did any of them have jobs lined up before the move or were they going to be able to telecommute?

They've said over and over that they don't have a lot of money so how could they afford mortgages or even rent on 4 houses? And then there's property taxes and utilities for 4 homes. :scared1:

TLC should do a cross over show and have the family from 19 Kids and Counting come and help the family from Sister Wives build a huge house. I would love to watch that episode! popcorn::
