We are currently booked at the VGF in a resort studio, 07/05-07/08/205. We are taking this sister trip together to celebrate our mom, who passed away - her birthday is 07/07 . However, I guess I wasn't paying attention and didn't realize there is a ton of construction going on at VGF. I am starting to think we may want to stay somewhere else. Has anyone been there recently? Is the construction obstructing the beauty of the Grand Floridian? We were looking to stay somewhere special over our mom's birthday.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Rivera Resort!!!

I am staying there in June for the 3rd time. The rooms are beautiful. The resort is very contained.
Great quiet pool with cushioned lounge chairs.

Food - Le Petite Cafe, Bar Riva and Primo Piatto....and don't forget Topolino's Terrace with a roof top patio to watch fireworks, after dinner or cocktails. All Yummy!

Skyliner to Epcot (Boardwalk Area) and to Hollywood Studios. Plus, so much more.

It is my favorite DVC and I have stayed at VGF twice. The difference its not a regular hotel, so most guest are staying at Rivera, quieter.

Good luck with your plans, what a lovely way to honor your Mom.

If you enjoy spending time in the lobby, you may want to re-think your plans. It's pretty torn up and kind of a mess right now. I think it's mainly the lobby at this point, and who knows what by July! Hope you have a great trip and can celebrate your mom!

The GF lobby is much less awe-inspiring with construction walls up, but you’ll notice the construction less when out in the villas buildings. So it really depends why you picked that location…was it because it’s the Fancy Flagship Resort or because your mom loved it? If she loved it, stay there anyway. If it’s just because it’s “special” seeming, pick somewhere else.

Did your mom have a favorite vacation destination? Try to find somewhere that suits her likes, such as Poly if she loved Hawaii, AKV if she loved animals, CCV or BRV or the C@FW if she loved camping, OKW if she loved Florida, etc.

Neither VGF building is currently under construction. The main GF lobby is under construction and is supposed to be completed in November 2025.
That's good I'm going to attempt to stay there next year for my grand comeback tour lol

Thank you all for your help and your suggestions. We ended up cancelling our VGF reservations and booked BCV. The BCV seemed more fitting as our mom actually lived on a house boat :)

Not to throw another wrench in your plans, but it was recently announced that the Beach Club will be undergoing external maintenance from June to September. From what I read, it's not a lot, but the Porte cochere will be closed and "construction may be noticeable during daytime hours". Valet and bell services will still be available. Probably won't be much unless you happen to get a room overlooking or near the front entrance. At least SAB will be done!

Thank you for this information! It seems like every hotel I was looking at, is currently under construction - Copper Creek, Grand Floridian, Beach Club, Polynesian, and the Contemporary. I ended up switching the the BC as I thought it would be a nice link to our mom. Also, the proximity to EPCOT is nice too.

I think it will be fine! I don't think it being at the front of the resort will be too disruptive - and you will have a nice new refurbished pool! All does seem to be under construction! I will be at Copper Creek in September and I am hoping all construction is done by then. We are moving to the Poly for the next week, supposedly at some point they are starting construction on the drive/entrance there -guess there is not much hope of avoiding construction! Hope you make more good memories on your vacation and know your mom is smiling down on you both!
